Planning a Trip to Lithuania

Vilnius is my favorite city within a cheap flight of Helsinki ;) I go there at least three times a year. I highly recommend the restaurant Chinggiskhanas for some good Kazakh food - I have flown there just because of a craving for their food! A lot cheaper than heading off to Almaty! But seriously any city with a statue of Frank Zappa has to be good ;) And the best part is that there are not AS many drunk British morons on stag parties in Vlinius as you find in the rest of Eastern Europe, and I have to love that the local British pub has a sign on the door saying "no stag party groups" :)) Keep the infantile drunk Brits on their own Alcatraz of the North Sea where they belong ;)

Two good reasons to go here. First is Trakai Castle, which, in the centre of a lovely lake, may well be one of Lithuania's best sights. And second, the hordes of newlyweds who have their photos taken here. Both aspects are highly rewarding, plus you can have lunch overlooking the lake, and Lithuanian food is bloody good. Thumbs up!

Nice resort, many spas, nice architecture, good for a relaxing stay. The water park ROCKS! It is a huge indoor complex of 4 swimming pools with lots of activities, laser shows, and over 30 different sauna types.

When you're there, take a few hours trip to Grutas Parkas (approx 10-12 km from Druskinnikai) where all communist statues are placed, it's pretty educating!

I recommend finding the old KGB Museum and visiting it, find out how much of the stuff you heard about the KGB that's actually true about how they treat .. enemies.

Dont forget to visit the old part of the city, it's lovely on a summer day.

Vilnius is amazing in spring or autumt, though you shouldn't be disappointed in summer or even in winter. Old town and Uzupis are best places for a walk, and don't forget to climb up the Gediminas castle hill for a spectacular view of the city panorama.

if u go to Vilnius, u must see Trakai. and u should to smell Old Vilnius' s air. it is smelling like history.
