Lithuania is an astonishing country. For people, for nature, for climate.
I was in Lithuania for the fourth time last September. I am coming back on November 1st, taking advantage of some free time I have from work.
First of all, Lithuania is no cheap place for flying to. Unless you live in London and you can fly with ryanair to Kaunas, which is one of the major towns, approx 80 km far from Vilnius, the capital.
Vilnius is one of the three pearls of the baltic. The Lithuanian capital counts something like 700.000 inhabitants, (most of them bad drivers), but is not crowded, and thanks to the UE fundings is restyling and lately renewed the historical centre - completely recovering, in my opinion, the gap from other eastern towns such as Prague or Riga - which are definitely more seen as touristic routes.
From Vilnius you can easily reach any of the beautiful wonders of nature around. But a trip to suggest to those who are fond of adventure would be a short drive to the hill of the crosses and Klaipedia's peninsula, the home of amber, small line of ground linking lithuania to kaliningrad, one of the many but worth UNESCO protected places.
I have much things to tell about lithuania. I hope this will just start a discussion on this enchanting but still not very advertised place.
