The city covers an area of 1,080 km2 (417 sq mi) at 468 metres (1,535 ft) above sea level, with a population of 86,580 citizens in the municipality.[1]. It is home to the State University of Tetovo and South East European University. The city of Tetovo is the seat of Tetovo Municipality.The Colored or Painted Mosque (Aladzha or Xhamija e Larme), also known as the Pasha Mosque, was built in 1459 by the Ottoman Turks.The majority of Tetovo's residents are ethnic Albanians.If you think skiing u must visit Kodra e Diellit!!To visit the historical places in Tetovo among which are: Arabati Baba Teqe building (known as "Teqe compund") which is worth visiting since it is an old cultural center built during the 17th century which is historically used as a religious base for the Bekteshi Islamic clerics.The center also serves as a site for cultural and artistic exhibitions over the years.
Turkish bath- is another building which shows that people of this area have fanatically saved and have taken care of the historical buildings.It was also built during the Ottoman Empire!Its a must if you're interested in art. you can see studios of many painters, both professional and amateur,most of their work can be seen in the Tetova Cultural Centre.
