Two great places worth a visit when you're staying in Diego is the Montagne D'Ambre, a natural reserve, where if you're lucky you might spot a lemur or two. The other place worth a visit are the Tsinguy (pronounced Tsing) which are rocks that have been sculted by the wind into needle like points.

Second biggest of Madagascar, Antsiranana (Diego-Suarez) still reflects some colonial history in its architecture. A few kilometers to the east you will discover the marvelous bay and the "pain de sucre"
