if you go to mzimba, it is a nice trip to do. The people are amazing, lovely and very kind!

Being a small country, it's best to travel by road as much as possible - you will see more and learn the people better! Carry summer clothes as the country is generally hot and humid!

This is the only city we were robbed in. You MUST be careful of touts or people that just hang around the combi rinks and bombard you as you are exiting. Many will surround you and try to distract you while their cohorts slice open or unzip your bag:

Found that Malawi was pretty dangerous, many people I met there were robbed at knifepoint or attacked. One poor bloke was hit over the head and knocked out, only to wake up completely naked with everything he owned gone. They seemed to pick on people that were alone or vulnerable, so try not to be alone too much, especially at night time. Also watch out for your bags, when in a restaurant, a local was sitting with a big group of travelers, I thought he was friends with one of the group, and everyone else thought the same thing, except he wasn't, and while he was pretending to sleep, he had been cutting a big hole in my pack and trying to steal stuff.

So all in all, Malawi, while really beautiful had a lot of problems with this sort of thing going on.

Big Blue Star Backpackers Lodge, you want to stay while visiting beautiful Nkhata Bay. Very well priced, this spot is perfectly located next to the lake with breath taking views. They have great accommodation, stocked bar and well equiped kitchen. They provide many free stuff including WiFi, snorkeling, satelite TV and many more. Great place to be.

When travelling to Mzuzu, stay at Mzoozoozoo Lodge when you are happy with a bed, a hot shower and nice food. To stay at a more quiet place, book a room at the Flame Tree Guest House, near the bus depot.

dont change money at this border on the blackmarket, its illegal!!

In Dedza you can buy the most beautiful pottery in the world :)

Just a few kilometers from the city of Liwonde there's an amazing Nationalpark where you can see hippos, crocodiles and lots of beautiful birds!
