Travel Tips from people who've been to Mdina
The silent city, as it's also known, is an amazing place where you really can step back to days gone by. The narrow streets are haunting and enchanting, with the quintessential Maltese architecture some of the best you'll see. The parish church is brilliant, and there are quite a few good museums and galleries too. Best of all is the view from the walls of the city; once the capital of Malta due to its altitude, you really can see everywhere on the island from here. Mdina is a very beautiful city indeed!

A mesmerizing city indeed... its been called the 'silent city', the 'aristocratic city', and more... in the centre of pocket-sized Malta, Mdina is loaded with histroy, amazing buildings and numerous scenic streets and corners that offer Henri Cartier Bresson opportunities... its a compact walled city, easily seen in a couple of hours or so... but youcan spend as much time as you will to soak in its atmosphere... nearby Rabat offers a bit of the same but it is larger and not that atmospheric.... get to Mdina direct from Valetta on one of Malta's cute little buses and then get lost in this city...
