Mosta Travel Guide

Mosta is another little city packed into the centre of Malta... and not too far from Mdina or Rabat... its most famous for its amazing cathedral with one of the biggest domes ever... and it is the city where the All Saint's Day celebrations are also held ... if you happen to be there that day (as I luckily was), don't miss the celebrations... they are amongst the most colourful local affairs I've ever seen... with local bands, fireworks, nougat stands, immense statues, beer stalls and people in their all-out colourful moods...

The main attraction is Mosta Dome. During the 2nd world war, during a mass, a bomb landed in the church aisle. It did not explode, and no one was hurt. The dome ceiling was repaired, but you can see where it came through. Admission is free, just make sure to visit between mass times, if you wish. Gorgeous church! Accessible by bus, as is almost everything in Malta.
