Founded in 1147, Ouadane, also known as the "two oueds", was once part of a caravan route in the Trans-Saharan trade, reaching it's height in the 17th century.  It is known for it's landscapes, and for the houses that are built right into the cliffs.

The city is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
