Travel Tips from people who've been to San Jose del Cabo
Bird watching in the Estuary.  A large underground freshwater arroyo winds through the town of San Jose del Cabo as it makes it's way out to the ocean.  In some places the river comes to the surface and offers wildlife and birds a spectacular place to feed and rest.  A small path follows this river from the centre of SJD near the water plant, right out to the resort hotel El Presidente.  Some years have been damaged by flooding, and at some times of the year the bugs can be bad.  Make sure you have proper sandals, and bug spray, and of course binoculars.  Caution:  This path is well off the touristy area, and in Mexico please be aware of your surroundings and safety at all times.  Robberies are very rare, but can occur, as transients like to stay/camp/sleep in this area. Crashing through the brush is usually local cows and horses. Expect to see Iguana, turtles, herons, egrets, coots, pintails, pelicans, curlew, cormorant, vultures, etc. Many people enjoy renting kayaks from El Presidente and making their way through the waterways to view wildlife.

Treat yourself to a luxurous massage while in SJD!!  Yes that's right.  On the main beach of Costa Azul, usually in front of the resort hotels of Royal Solaris and Crowne Plaza there will be huge white tents set up on the beach.  University students learning massage and other therapy techniques will provide you with a wonderful massage for extremely cheap!!  You can even haggle at the end of the day for a better deal.  Well worth it!!  Hard to resist a relaxing massage listening to the waves crash the shoreline, a soothing sea breeze and comfortable tables!  Take a long stroll upon the endless sand beach, then stop in for a relaxing break.  I highly recommend this.
