Travel Tips from people who've been to Central North Mexico
For anyone going to San Miguel de Allende and needing transportation to and from the Airports in Queretaro, Leon or Mexico City or to other towns and sights to see in the area, we highly recommend Reyes Ortiz.
He is not only a very pleasant person but a good businessman. He speaks very good English, is very knowledgeable and informative of San Miguel de Allende and the other cities, towns and attractions in this part of Mexico and has very reasonable rates.
He also gives tours to Dolores Hidalgo, Queretaro, Atotonilco, Guanajuato, Mexico City and other sites.
We used another transportation service earlier, then tried Reyes and we continued to use him for the duration of our trip. He was a tremendous help and delightfully informative. We will definitely be using his services everytime we return to San Miguel.
We Highly Recommend Him.

Be careful! There are two types of currency.

CUC (Peso cubano convertible) is the one tourist need and PESO CUBANO (or "moneda nacional") which costs 26 times less that CUC. Always exchange your money in official places such as banks or "Casa de cambio"

Don't be tricked by people who ask you to exchange money with them, some of them give you the PESO CUBANO instead of CUC. I met a lot of people whose vacation were spoiled because they lost a lot of money like that.

If you are the "crazy" one among your friends, or you are always searching for non-turists places, and if we add here a little bit if curiosity regarding "U.F.O's"... well...Durango could be your dream destination. There is a place called "La zona del silencio" (The silent zone) because nobody knows why...but... it is a salt desert where compasses are unable to point to the North and the radio waves become suddenly lost. Or in the Cavern of Rosario, with its strange calcareous formations and a great number of stalactites and stalagmites. Fancy to give it a try?
