Travel Tips from people who've been to Durango
If you are the "crazy" one among your friends, or you are always searching for non-turists places, and if we add here a little bit if curiosity regarding "U.F.O's"... well...Durango could be your dream destination. There is a place called "La zona del silencio" (The silent zone) because nobody knows why...but... it is a salt desert where compasses are unable to point to the North and the radio waves become suddenly lost. Or in the Cavern of Rosario, with its strange calcareous formations and a great number of stalactites and stalagmites. Fancy to give it a try? Good tip? (0) Do yoDo you want to visit a calm town in the desert with a colonial character? Durango might be for you in this case. This place is famous for scorpions and a desert where the watches aren't working any more. Nearby you can visit the villa de l'oeste, a place where they used to record western movies. They still have some nice shows on weekends. Going out: la playa or zona zero. Nice to see: The market place (ask in the center) - you can buy scorpions there, the center, the desert (tres molinos), villa de l'oeste and nearby mexiquillo. Good tip?
