Save time for museum hopping. There are more museums in Mexico City that you could possibly count. We found gallery after gallery just walking down the street. Admission was as little as a dollar.

Everybody says Mexico City is an extremly dangerous city, but from my experience I can tell you, that as long as you don't run around in expensive clothes and shoes without any jewelry, noboy will do you any harm. Actually it's the opposite: Mexicans are warm hearted people how are very proud of their country, and especially of Mexico City, and like to share their knowledge of it with everybody! Very important to see, besides the usual things you can read in every guide, are the different markets in different parts of the town (especially the "TEPITO" market. Also very interesting are the little Taco Bars in the streets. Don't think about what to eat. Just eat and then ask!

It is the centre of Mexico. The top in art, culture, economy, and everything you can imagine lives here. Unfortunately, pollution and public safety problems undermine it's awesome touristic potential.

City metro is cheap and easy to get around, buy a few tickets at a time as it's the same price to go 1 stop or 10. Saves lining up as can get very busy.

Best place to listen to the Mariachi bands is in the plaza Garibaldi, make sure you go there with local, as it is also a high crime area. Another local place is floating garden of Xochimilco, a must see, again go with locals.

Alameda park is a beautiful little park with fountains, street performers, vendors selling all kinds of crafted items and food, and the flora is breathtaking. It is next to the Palacio de Bellas Artes . This park was the first in the city and dates to the 16th century.

In the south west corner of the colonia is a walmart. Only one tianguis twice a week.
