Travel Tips from people who've been to Palenque
Across the street grow strong hongos. The locals will be happy to gather and sell you some. I got mine through a 7 year old kid playing on a fence. He told his Father, a real vaquero, that this gringo wanted to some hongos. The Father disappeared on his horse and asked me to wait. 10 minutes later he appeared, removing his sombrero to reveal a pile of fresh picked specimens of Psylocybe cubensis. Fuerte and tasty indeed. Good tip? (0) If you go to Mexico you can't miss Palenque! It's one of the most incredible places in the world. A whole mayan city in the middle of the jungle... Another extraordinary place very similar is Tikal, Guatemala, and it's not that far from Palenque... Good tip? (0) Try not to stay in Palenque town. Head out towards the ruins and rent a room or shed there. You will be able to wake up early to the sound of howler monkeys, and be the first in to see the ruins while its still not too hot. Good tip?
