Travel Tips from people who've been to Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos has some of the best coral reefs in the world. For only $25, a guide will take you out for an hour or more to snorkel around the colorful sea-scape. Barracuda, lobster, brain coral, hundreds of neon fish... it's all there. You'll feel like you're swimming in an aquarium!

The town itself is small, and comfortable to get around in by foot.

There are some great places to eat here.
Be sure to have the fresh seafood!

Places to stay can be a little tricky. What looks nice on the outside may not be so great on the inside, so you may need to look around.

Overall, it's a fun little place to spend a day in, but probably not much more than that. Regardless, I'd recommend it.

This town has a small square in which there are a couple restaurants, a few stores that all sell the same things, and a book shop that is overpriced.  Save your money for elsewhere. Comeing into the port, observe the channel markers.  Inside the reef, watch for coral heads.  If the forcast calls for nasty weather, pay the extra buck and stay in the harbour at marina del sid.  The holding is bad in the anchorage offshore of town.

If you're ever near Cancun, don't stay in the touristic city but go a few miles south to Puerto Morelos, a lovely little non-touristic village. In the main street following the beach there's a beautiful hotel called Hotel Marviya, run by a Canadian-Mexican couple. The people are amazing, the hotel and rooms are beautiful... Definately one of the best places to go!
