Drive from UB to Aravher and the SE to Saihan Ovoo.... there are plenty of camps nearby. Ongiin Hiid is the Gobi Desert's largest monastery ruins left by the last 70 yrs of socialism in the entire Gobi region... there are caves to be explored where the local "great men" would steal from the rich and give the animals to the poor... sound familiar... sound contrived? we its not! Mongolia had their own robin hoods called "shildeg Zaluus"!! Anyhow, its off the path and should be visited if you are in the region
