Travel Tips for Dos and Don’ts in Namibia

Windhoek, Windhoek & Central Namibia, Namibia
Joe's Beerhouse is a wonderful place at night to eat some Zebra or a german schweinshaxe outdoors around fireplaces. Namibian lager beer is great.

My fellow travelers and I had only stopped in Windhoek for a couple of hours to do some shopping and banking and internet. However in that amount of time two of my friends had an incident happen at two separate ATMs. Apparently they were taking money out when someone stepped up from behind them, pushed some buttons, took out their debit card, slide the debit card up the sleeve of his shirt, and then put it back in the ATM and took off. It happened so fast and the person came out of nowhere that my friends had no chance to react or even know what happened. Needless to say they cancelled their cards and tried to report it to the local police but they didn't really seem to care. So just be careful when withdrawing money and always keep a backup credit card just in case.
