Eine besondere touristische Attraktion sind die nordöstlich von Keetmanshoop gelegenen Köcherbaumwälder (Afrikaans: Kokerboom Woud). Diese zumeist auf privaten Farmen (z.B. Gariganus) gelegenen Baumgruppen des (Aloe dichotoma) stehen seit 1955 unter Naturschutz. Der Name bezieht sich auf die Beschaffenheit des Holzes. Da dieses leicht auszuhöhlen ist, fertigten die Völker der San und Khoi Khoi aus den Ästen dieses Baumes Köcher für ihre Jagdpfeile.

Don't miss the GIANT'S PLAYGROUND and THE QUIVER TREE FOREST:
The quiver tree is one of the most interesting an characteristic plants of very hot and dry parts of Namibia. Actually it is no tree, but an aloe plant.

Be sure to visit the nearby Quivertree forest and Giants Playground rock formations. the quivertree forest is fantastic especially at sunrise or sunset...
