Nauru Plants & Animals
Plants Given the high phosphate content - not a heckuvalot of plants grow well here. Scrub and creeper plants, dominate the region, with some coconut palms and pandanus along the coastline. Tomano trees and frangipani flowers can also be found here. The middle of Nauru is very barren due to the mining operations. There only lichen grows due to a lack of topsoil and high phosphate levels. Animals Nauru has no indigenous animals, though pigs and chickens have been imported. Birdwatchers will be able to find a number of seabirds here. In the waters, deep sea game include tuna, marlin, barracuda and more. Last edited May 28, 08 11:17 PM. |
