Kathmandu, Nepal
If travelling on buses in Nepal, rather than be uncomfortable AND miss the view, sit on the roof with the locals. This was a highlight of both my trips to Nepal as you get a bird's eye view into farm houses, forests, waterfalls etc.

Kathmandu, Nepal
When we were traveling around Nepal, the buses were usually jam-packed with people. To avoid the overcrowding inside we chose to ride outside instead - on the roof! Doing this within Kathmandu itself isn't recommended, but outside of the city you can get away with it. We used this option whenever we got the chance and I wish you could do the same at home too! It sure made some of the 3-4 hour bus rides we took a lot more fun, and you have a great view when you're driving on the mountain roads.
