Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
By all means visit the markets, but watch out for pick pockets, they are very organised and experienced. Special places to visit include the Royal Palace, Madame Tousaude's for some local wax and if you must, a local coffee shop, but then remember the first item. Amsterdam isn't that representative of Holland any more, if you really want to experience it, head to one of the smaller towns. Centraal Station will take you pretty much anywear quickly and easily. If you are there and they do a public address warning about the pick pockets, don't do what everyone else automatically does, which is clap their hands to where they keep their wallets. Anyone would think the crims were paying the people to do the PA's lol.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Grasshopper a must! Great selection
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
nice!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Excellent, fun city. Lots of brilliant musems to check out. Take a canal ride, watch the world go by with a glass of wine or a cold beer at one of the many cafe/bars. Personally I stay away from the red light district. Stag do's are rife here.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Great place to visit, very good night life.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
La ville de tous les abus. Je vous conseil de passer au moins une fois le nouvel an a dam, c est la folie total la fête comme on ne la voie que la bas.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Heaven on Earth. Everybody spoke English and was very nice. Most of the tourists were American, and most of them were high. Sights were good but i went there to impair my vision. Really awesome place all in all.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Definately hire a bike. That was you get the real experiance of amsterdam.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Stay at "Bob's youth hostel" and buy your green stuff at the "Bulldog Coffee Shop" and it's a fun, albeit hard to recall, trip.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Don't go during the Cannabis Cup. It's a sloppy affair put on by Americans for Americans. The whole place gets flooded with hippies and exchange student wannabes. It was a repeat of the same uninformed pot-head debates about George Bush and 'I didn't vote for him, man' and 'why can't we all just get along?' over and over again.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
rent a bike and ride around the canals...
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
I did not like the city, but it is an interesting experience...museams are excellent...the Van Goh...but the Red Zone...horrible.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
sexmuseum bij het centraal station is gwn hilarisch!! probeer zeker alle grote pleinen, zalig cafeetjes enzo
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Things you have to see are:diamonds, Rembrandts' house, Van Gogh's museum, and coffe shops. maybe you could rent a bike, but you can walk along the city...watch, of the fast bike riders, they often hit you!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Expectacular city! A lot of places to visit, Museums, parks, coffeeshops, Haesje Claes restaurant is a must if you are looking for good Holandaise food. Nightlife is over the top.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam... land of water and land, history and culture, coupled with modern 'liberties' and lifestyles. Our holiday here was a mixture of highs and lows, some things we absolutely loved, and other things made us feel very uncomfortable. I guess this can be said of most cities in the world, as there is good and bad everywhere, but for us, we had never encountered this type of element before. We neither loved nor hated it. But we are glad we went. What appealed to us was the lapping of the waters as our canal boat gently steered down the canal, watching the towering, skinny buildings on either side of us. Watching the young lady sunbathing on the roof of her river-boat; the young man beating his dust-filled carpet with a rod; the young girl curled up on the windowsill overlooking the canal, engrossed in the novel she was reading. It offers, to the viewer and visitor, an intimate glimpse into the life of Amsterdam and is very special.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
for a rainy day the Science museam is a great alternative to the tried and tested art galleries and Anne Franks house. it is very hands on and allows grown ups to play .....
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Out of the places I have visited Amsterdam was the most beautiful, clean, compact pleasant city I visited.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam was my favourite, most beautiful, clean, compact pleasant city I visited. Bicycles are the most preferred form of transport which coincides simultaneously. Definitely tour the Red Light District (Malltjes), Night life is always alive. Order your sh!t @ the "Coffee Shops".
Holland, the countryside is too quaint to pass up, this is a definite must see!! The windmills - I missed my tour bus back it was so gorgeous xx Holland xx I will be back!!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Go to the Sunday Market for great deals.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Take a trip on the boats along the Canals Walk in the Red light district. Go Shopping Go to a cafte or restaurant
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Unless you want to spent the entire time hanging around other stoned backpackers, don't stay in the red light district. The hostel over Vondelpark is a nice option close to many of the attractions Amsterdam has to offer.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam is my life and is everything.......ik hou van jou ...A'dams
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
For those not going for the red light district - the Van Gogh museum and the Anne Frank House are must sees. There are also a lot of great little Dutch cities you can reach from A'dam in an hour - take a day trip or two!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Stayed at the Youth Hostel StayOkay once, great but the bar closes to early!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Buy a 15-Strippenkaart, to get around on the trams and buses

Buy your lunch and food from Albert Heijn - they are all over the city
Purmerend, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands

Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Near the Westergasfabriek, there is a lovely little bakery. Definitely worth to visit and taste the muffins, for example!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
You won't find anyone smoking blunts out there in Amsterdam... if you have to roll one up, there are small cigar shops around - WATCH OUT FOR PPL RIDING THEIR BIKES! THEY"RE CRAZY
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Must visits: Red Light District, Heineken Brewery (taste the difference of real fresh brewed Heineken), Anne Frank Museum.... Must do: canal boat ride
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
For our first trip to Amsterdam, we stayed at the Jolly Hotel Carlton in the center of everything in Rembrandt Square. The hotel was nice enough and the location was perfect.

The coffee shop experience is an a must! And so is the Red Light District at night.

We were amazed by how beautiful and clean the city was. It was not at all Seedy as we had expected. We look forward to a return trip!

Don't forget to eat "Walk to Wok" a fast food chinese take out!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Try the magic mushrooms, you can float round the city for hours. When you have come back down to earth, head to the banana bar. Make sure you are there with good friends!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
let's see, a good tip for amsterdam would be to go a little outside the city center because it's there that you will find lovely vintage shops and obscure boutique's :)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Go to the Pijp area to taste some Surinamese food. Surinam used to be a Dutch colony in South America. Thet brought in slaves from Africa, India, China and Indonesia. Surinamese cuisine has blended all these different tastes into one. It's unique in the world, and very cheap for Dutch standards!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The Taco Shop, about 2 miles outside of the city centre, is worth the walk. Get your bread and croissants at a bakery, get your cookies and donuts at a croissanterie. Drink the red wine instead of the white, and visit the museums early. Skip the Zoo and go across the street to the WWII Resistance Museum.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
There is a beautiful park in the city that is a really nice spot to relax.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The real way to see this city, just like any place, is to just get lost in it. Always be aware of your surroundings to avoid becoming a target (best thing is to keep the map well out of sight), and enjoy the surroundings that you will suddenly become a part of. You'll be amazed when you see just how great things are once you stop worrying about time tables and destinations.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
go see a sex show..........................
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The best Dutch food is Indonesian food. Splash out on a Rijsttafel, downed with a few beers (Bintang is authentic, but any lager will do). My favourite place is Djago (on the Europa plein at the edge of town near the RAI), but many are good, including Kantjil Tijger and Tempoe Doeloe. Just watch out for the mixed-up Chinese-Indisch imitations.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
StayOkay are indeed great hostels to stay at: clean, good service, safe. There's one at the Vondel Park, the other is more downtown. If you're at the Vondelpark, shun the park itself at night, but walk a bit further towards the canalside square with a great Irish pub and a Hard Rock Café. For the history-greedy, make sure to visit the Anne Frank House. An unforgettable experience indeed.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Don't need to say too much about this place but just want u to know that: love and ... pot is in the air
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Try not to stay in the red light district. Too dodgey for women at night
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
the red light district all the amazing coffeeshops
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
You should definately go to the park around 5.30 pm during summer time. Dutch are totally crazy about the parks and they go there running, rollerbading or just relaxing. Take a book a good wine and a good company and relax as everyone else does!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
I loved this city! I agree w/Earl's comment, pay attention and get lost. I walked for days. It was cool but sunny and the walking was so easy. A good travel book will explain many of the sights and the people are very friendly. The architecture, and the hidden garden, and the beer...all good. The Anne Frank house was deeply moving. I was lucky to see alot b/c of friends that live there. Man did i miss their great transport system on returning to Georgia.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam is somewhat overrated... but maybe it's because I live 30 minutes south of it. I don't mind going for a day to visit the Rijksmuseum (with Vermeer's milkmaid) and stopping at the Begijnhof on the way back, where they have perpetual adoration! For book shopping Amsterdam is not that good, though you might find some fine literature at the American Book Center at Spui Square. But most of all, Amsterdam is noisy and crammed with Japanese tourist. It seriously gives me a head-ache! And why are they all going to the Red Light District?
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
It is beautiful! Go to the Sensi Seeds lounge. its really peaceful
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Forget the red lights and the hash bars. This place has got some of the best museums in Europe! The Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House were probably my favourites.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Pays où tout est permis !!¨ Belles femmes à Gogo!! JIIJIJJ
Broek in Waterland, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Small village, real Dutch village. Small community. One church, surrounded by farms, everyone very kind. Close to Amsterdam, just 30 minutes with bus.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Try the local bitterballen to eat Strippenkarten for trams, saves money!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Nice city. Although i couldnt stand the smell of the pot as i was walking outside the cafes! I would definitely go to A'dam again for more fun
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
go for pancakes, they're different from our pancakes
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
For a good meal that is not very expensive, eat at Wagamama!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Everybody knows about Amsterdams, Red Lamp street! Well believe me, even for woman like me its something incredible. And dont stare, expecially when young kids come. Believe me u dont have what they didnt see all ready, and sure as hell u r not the best she had!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Point is to see center of the city, for there culture, boats on rivers, people, but good idea for everybody is to visit suburbs of Amsterdam, there u get best picture of how people r living, enjoying, r talkative with u, and best little shops for u to find anything u want.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
A good place for cycling.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam is the only metropole in the world where everything is within walking distance! The Vondelpark is a great place to visit. in the day and the Dampkring i can recommend for a good coffeeshop, next to the Spui square in the Handboogstraat. In the night there are lots of party's listed in free magazines on the street and on flyers in clothing stores. The Paradiso and the Melkweg (the Milky way) are 2 famous party temples and on the Leidse square are many more clubs and bars and the casino.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
It's Amsterdam, whether you're in coffee, Van Gogh, Anne Frank, or good old weed, it's bound to be fun.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The airport is extensive to say the least, keep close to your group.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
shopping,drugs,de wallen,mooie grachten,voor rondvaart met boot
Schiphol, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
If you get the chance to fly through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, do it! Its probably the easiest airport to connect through, as its only one terminal. However it is very large.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Be careful with the Columbian Mushrooms !!!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
http://www.cafegollem.nl/ Gezelligste plekkje van Nederland :)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
If you are preparing your holidays in Amsterdam and you want to live in an appartment during this time but not spend much money for it, don't be shocked if you have a surprising meeting with mice there!;) because of the canals mice are a big problem of Amsterdam and it's difficult to get them out.. well, but you can try to take your cat with you!;) one thing you need to do is definitely a boat-trip trough Amsterdam's canals!:) it's very nice! another thing to see is the Anne Frank museum, it's very impressive! and don't miss to go in a coffee bar, there are really nice ones, and it could be that you will meet there some cute cats!;) I think for these people who love to smoke weed Amsterdam is the best city to go!;) so, Amsterdam is a really nice city, and i think the best time to go there in spring or autumn!:) have fun!;)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Artis is a very nice zoo!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
All I can say is Maoz!! The best fast food restaurant!! I love falafels! Van Gogh museum was awesome and of course a walk through the red light district made this city memorable. Oh ya and how much fun is it to get lost in the streets as you follow the canals that all look the same
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
great little town,do find the time to visit th eVan ghogh museum, and a quiet trip on the canal in th e afternoon. And for those who like it, do some coffee shop Hopping!!!!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
beautiful old city that surprises me averytime
Schiphol, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
This airport, or airport city as the Dutch say, is simply the sexiest travel hub you will ever linger in.  Have a sausageroll, buy some fags, buy video games if you feel like it!  Stock up on all sorts of tuck in the supermarket, pop to the museum, or stand outside smoking fags (sadly it has recently gone no smoking).  There is no excuse to ever go to heathrow - go to schipol, you know it makes sense!
Schiphol, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
When walking out of Schipol Airport you can feel very lost. Avoid taking taxis if you can; the public transport in the Netherlands is generally very good. To get to Amsterdam from Schipol I would recommend that you take one of the many trains from below ground level, tickets can be obtain from inside of the Airport. Alternatively there is a more scenic route to Amsterdam via Amstelveen; take the 300 bus heading to Amsterdam Bijlmer and get off at Oranjebaan which is the stop after Amstelveen Bus station. Transfer the the Tram station and take Tram No5 (Centraal) into Amsterdam centre. Note: The 300 bus to Amsterdam Bijlmer will also take you directly to The Amsterdam Arena, home of Ajax and also the Heineken Music Hall.
Schiphol, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
If you want to save your time in the Netherlands, why don't you stay in any hotl near the airport so you can go straight away to the airport :)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Parking is difficult and expensive in the city, with parking regulations strictly enforced. The clampers work a day and night, and seem to pay particular attention to foreign cars. If your car is clamped, a yellow sticker on the window tells you where to pay the fine of EUR 67,00 before the clamp is removed. If the fine is not paid within 24 hours, your car will be towed away.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Just don't go there. Unless you want to get stoned, drunk and fuck a prostitute all together for less than a 100 dollars. If you disagree, I love you and go to any other city; Utrecht, Leiden, Delft, Nijmegen, Breda, Rotterdam.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
anne frank house nad van gogh
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The herbal drugs don't do anything... stick to pot.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands

Bon voyage!!!!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam is a wonderful city. I stayed at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel. It was a great choice. It was situated directly at the beginning of one of the biggest shopping streets Leidesplein. Really awesome was the Amsterdam Dungeon of which I found out by accident. It is really worth it. Also if you want to see Madame Tussauds you should buy a combi-ticket for both at the Dungeon. It's cheaper there. At the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijskmuseum I spend a few hrs. They are really big and worth seeing it if you are interested in culture and art. Don't miss to go on a canal cruise. They are a little pricey but really something you must see. For a nice evening crash in to the American Bar in the American Hotel, where you will find a huge wall of fame directly at Leidseplein or at the Pub situated at the end of the Leidseplein where it enters the Leidsestraat.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands

Jump on a train for a short ride over to Den Hague: a mixture of historic (from 1600s!) and modern architecture. PLUS, they have cafes so you need not worry bout not being able to have a legal smoke;), as well as a harbour and the seaside.

Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
if youre form a country outside the EU (us, japan, whereever) than you can shop taxfree at all shops in the netherlands!check www.vatfree.nl for more info.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
It's pretty bad timing to visit Amsterdam. When I was there in late January it looked awful, cos they're working on the canals, which are covered and there's huge cranes everywhere. Find out if the situation's better before you go!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Grashoppers Club is a cool location with cool people and cool music

Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Nice city with water in it... Park your car outside the city and take the bus or tram to enter the city. You look a lot less touristic...
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
What can i say? wicked place, stay off the back streets late at night unless there's a few of you, and the best place to buy your weed etc is the Grey Area but don't expect it to be open before 1.00pm.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
nice city,nice coffee!!!
Amstelveen, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Hier kun je eigenlijk prima winkelen of in het Amsterdamse Bos zitten.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Visit a coffe shop and then take a strole in this amazing city
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
You can rent a bike and go around or a little boat in the canals for a short cruise.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Rembrandtplein This is the place to be, for enjoying a good nightlife. It also features some small restaurants, for a quick bite.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
not too many fancy restaurants. in some of the fast food places you can hear tarkan!s music:) tulips and all the other flower are sold everywhere. It is scattered all around the town. for me it is a place of dikes and bikes...ask grass menus. it is not as rich as our eageon kitchen olive oil vegetable plates:))
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
You should really check out the Melkweg. It was my former employer, the best place to have a drink after work ;)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam can't be beat! Just be careful in the coffeeshops, especially if all you want to buy is a coffee. Amsterdam is well known for its cannabis trade, and you may end up with more than you ordered if you enter one of the many 'coffeeshops' with a simple coffee and biscuits in mind.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Paradiso, the place to see some of the best concerts
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
when there's sun: Rent a bike, please BIKE ALONE, not with bunch of people. Get some food wine at the supermarket, cycle to the Vondelpark, drop your bike, drop yourself on the grass and have a nice time enjoying the weather. Thats life in Amsterdam when it's raining: rent a bike, drown yourself in the rain, cycle through the city from the Museumsquare to the Anne Frankhouse. Do your tourist thing and get soaked. yes. thats also the life in Amsterdam.....
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Beautiful and if you do not like walking it;s very flat there.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
When the weather is good: rent a waterbike or a small boat to go over the canals. It's the best way to discover Amsterdam. If you rent a boat: take wine and food, it's what everybody does :-)Also go biking through the city; its the fastest way to get around. Taxis are relatively expensive and the public transport doesn't take you everywhere..
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Absolutely weird place...if you like your weed, remember it`s legal to buy and consume it in coffee shops BUT NEVER buy it on the streets...that`s a big no, The cops will get you!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Happy people!Tall people!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Trust the locals they know where to go and what to get.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
lively, crazy city! Not somewhere you should go if your by the book. Let yourself go and experience new things, savour them before returning to normal life. Don't make it a live style...
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
The Jordaan is a beautiful garden section of the city, lovely little restaurants off the main tourist paths. Small closed gardens hidden behind doors in the city. Van Gogh museum is worth it. Great Tibetan restaurant, walking the city and canals in all seasons is wonderful. People are friendly, transport efficient. Corrie TenBoom's house in Haarlem is worth seeing, as is the Christmas market in Haarlem.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands

Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
If you're in amstardam and planning to sample the local culture. NEVER buy anythin on the street. in a city where sex and drugs are sold legally there's reasons why the people on the street are dodgy.
Muiden, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
if you go to the castle expect to walk a bit to get there because parking spots are sparse
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands

Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
If you wanna buy some real REAL good stuff in a Coffee Shop i suggest "Pink Floyd", its placed near a main train station and they're selling amazing weed!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
whatever you do, get your train/tram tickets from the airport into amdam via the counter agent, NOT from the ticket machine. i was trying to be independent and grabbed the wrong ticket and wound up paying a large fine (about 50usd) and they are happy to escort you to the atm to withdraw the funds to pay said fine, tyvm!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
It's likely you'll have an AmsterDAM good time here
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Mushrooms in Vondelpark...except I think they became illegal just after I left in December '07?
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdam's an amazing city... I would most definitly live there for life. Rent a bike or just stroll around, spend some time chilling on Vondelpark's grass in the summer... There isn't anything else better to do.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Piet Hein Hotel, pas trop loin du centre, sympathique salle et buffet de petit déjeuner, salon avec wi-fi, chambres calmes.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Bycicle hotel, 1*Great staff, good location, breakfast, free internet, quite street but nearby restaurants, bars....
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
A faire
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
beware of the fog!!!!! and visit the Van goff museum
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
There are a lot of central hostels where you'll pay more than 20 euros per night, for big shered bedrooms. You can find better places not too far from the center where you can pay less.
Weesp, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Weesp is a very idylle dutch city, best to eat at Selene's, nice Italian food
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Don't forget to stop by Planet Pussy in the Red Light District. Libby and I didn't get a chance to go in, but the name says it all.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Amsterdaaaaam!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
don't buy shoos when you're high and wasted. I left a store with two right shoos. not very useful. .
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
Be very careful with cameras in the red light district! Many of the girls are under age and they have a very aggressive policy to keep cameras out!
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
nothing to say about this city... its always known! :-)
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
When visiting the Netherlands, Amsterdam is definately something you have to see. It is not comparable to the rest of the Netherlands though, so make sure that next to the extreme tourist regions, you also visit at least one other place. In Amsterdam, the red light district (de Wallen) is a must.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands
i love the peaceful life in Amersfoort(the place where my Dutch friend's living and let me stayed for a few days) I miss the Harving Fish from Sunday Market there.. it's very fresh yummy! Amsterdam is the greatest city (until I visited Toronto) in the whole wide world, according to me! It's nice and bustling, though quiet and soft. Maybe it reminds me of home - it's close to water, the pretty buildings and the street cars in the middle of the road. It seems like an old fashioned Stockholm! But Amsterdam comes alive in a whole different way at night. There's the Red Light District, but also just in the city, like Leidseplein or by the Central Station there's plenty of clubs, coffee shops, vending machines (for that drunken snack) and people out and about. It's busy and nice, I even walked home, for almost an hour and it felt safe and conforting. The people are friendly, you see English here and there, and I've even learned that Dutch is not that different from Swedish so I've been practicing and readin signs and menues, it's not going that bad!
If you want an all round experience, visit Amsterdam. There's culture, night life and history all in one. You'll never forget it and you'll always long back.

Amsterdam is a city full of young people. There is a great nightlife: many bars, pubs and coffeshops :)

yes, i can imagine that u can get stuck in a coffeeshop for ur whole trip. but maybe it's an idea to check out the city itself, before you do that. it's a shame to see everything completely stoned, because than u can't remember anything except for the photo's u took. just walk around, the inner centre is ok, but try to get into the canal area: de 9 straatjes (9 lil streets), jordaan. both of them have very good, not that expensive restaurants and bars and cool boutiques with whatever u want. good museum is stedelijk museum, which is (still) next to central station. locals all speak English, and mostly open for a conversation or asked directions. try to get hold on a "strippenkaart" which is much cheaper to go by bus or tram than buying a ticket everytime u get on.

Watch for bikes, especially when crossing streets etc. Most of the Dutch ride bikes in Amsterdam for transportation, and it can be confusing when you are walking around the city, especially if you have indulged in a bit of Amsterdam fun. It can also be fun to rent a bike while you are visiting, but make sure to lock it up when you aren't using it, as bike theft here is high.

Us dutchies all speak english, unless you're talking to someone over 70 -- they generally don't quite get it right.

I don't care how old you are, the science museum is not to be missed! Heaps of cool hands on stuff to play with topped off by enjoying several beers on the sun terrace is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon in Amsterdam! Also very chilled and inexpensive is exploring the city by bike and paddle boat along the canals, although it can be pretty tricky to locate where you need to go to return the paddle boats to as the 'map' is minimal to say the least!

The Anne Frank Huis (House) is a must when visiting Amsterdam. Allow at least an hour for the visit. It's also best to book your ticket in advance on the website - this will give you a 2 hour time block to visit the house and you literally jump the line. I did this in April, and the line was wrapped around the building. It's a must and a great way to make the most of your time in Amsterdam!

Amsterdam is a really lovely city and seems to be the only place that Americans have ever heard of in The Netherlands. So, check it out walk around(and not just the Red light District or in nd out of Coffee Shops) there is beautiful architecture andsome interesting cultural places like Rijkmusuem. And I know no one seems to ahve heard of it but if you visit while the Heineken Experience is still closed than you should check out House of Bols here is a link for info:http://www.houseofbols.nl/index.aspIt costs ten euros and is totally worth it(i'm very cheap and very poor and I would totally pay it again) It has an a musuem with the history of bols and there is even a Rembrant there(I won't tell ya why). It is also set up to stimulate all your senses then at the end it tells oyu what cocktail to order based on your personality. You get a print out and then your cocktail upstairs ina  cool bar. Also, if you ask a lot of questions they will let you taste test the different flavors. The House of Bols is across the way from the Van Gogh Musuem so once you get sick of the crowds there you need to go across the way and check it out. It is still nrelatively new so the crowds are still pretty small.... They won't be once word spreads. I have seen and done pretty much all the touristy and non touristy stuff in Amsterdam and this is still one of my favorite things I have done there. Can not recomend it highly enough.ps.... there is a lil side room off the bar where you can film yourself trying to do your best Tom Cruise from Cocktails moves...and then email it to your friends :)
