Amsterdam What to Expect

The big zoo, great when traveling with kids.

Just be careful if traveling with young kids, some of the sex shops have windows and displays. ha ha ha

Nemo science museum for kids. 

Don't take pictures of the hookers. I heard they don't like that. LOL Don't take children to Amsterdam.

Best time to go is from march/april till august. Go rent a bike, go to the van gogh museum or stedelijk museum(modern art), rijksmuseum is at the moment not that nice because they are renovating it! Buy some bread, cheeses, drinks, fruits, sweets in the supermarket and take it to the Vondelpark to have a nice afternoon hanging in the grass. In the evening can you get nice food at the nieuwmarkt or in de jordaan(oldest centre in amsterdam), overhere they have all kinds of food, greek, indonesian, thais, italian and more! It depends wich night, so check this before, but go to the melkweg, sugarfactory or paradiso(all arounds leidseplein), or go to hotel arena, really nice classy club, it's next to the oosterpark! A great day in holland is queensday(30 of april)! It's the birthday of one of our first queens, we are all dressed up in orange clothes, have orange make up on(our national colour) and are partying all the time! Kids are selling stuff on the streets and there are a lot of partys going on the night before queensday and at queensday. Act like us, do crazy, don't be ashamed, just be like a dutchie!

By all means visit the markets, but watch out for pick pockets, they are very organised and experienced. Special places to visit include the Royal Palace, Madame Tousaude's for some local wax and if you must, a local coffee shop, but then remember the first item. Amsterdam isn't that representative of Holland any more, if you really want to experience it, head to one of the smaller towns. Centraal Station will take you pretty much anywear quickly and easily. If you are there and they do a public address warning about the pick pockets, don't do what everyone else automatically does, which is clap their hands to where they keep their wallets. Anyone would think the crims were paying the people to do the PA's lol.

Definately hire a bike. That was you get the real experiance of amsterdam.

Stay at "Bob's youth hostel" and buy your green stuff at the "Bulldog Coffee Shop" and it's a fun, albeit hard to recall, trip.

If you're in amstardam and planning to sample the local culture. NEVER buy anythin on the street. in a city where sex and drugs are sold legally there's reasons why the people on the street are dodgy.

Amsterdaaaaam! Op naar de walletjes :D, die zijn der dus zeker wel en ge staat der tussen voor je't goed doorhebt, 't is dan ook een kleine stadskern, maar alles is er wel te vinden, met een taxi of te voet kun ge heel de stad vlotjes bezoeken. Duizenden wereldse restaurantjes met soms heerlijke gerechtjes, maken Amsterdam voor mij de moeite om nog x te gaan. Verder beke oppassen met al die coffeeshops, er zijn er 350 of zo, dus begin nie aan een foute kroegentocht of ge gaat nix gezien hebben ;) Tenzij uw lief betaald is een jeugdhotel in Amsterdam zeker niet mis, we konden gaan en staan waar we wouden en de voorzieningen praktisch 't zelfde als een ****hotel

It is verey nice to see the great fine arts of which artists like Rembrandet, Van goch Gogan made it in Amesterdan musimes. Hope to have the oppartuinty to see them life

Amsterdam has great Coffeshops...all over the place
