buy your bus tickets from tourist information before you get the bus

My personal experience is that of staying in a grUndoeat little private pension owned by an older couple.  It sure beats the bed bugs and ticks you might find in a sleazy hostel or cheap hotel, and the prices are pretty easy on the budget.  Just check with the tourist information center (VVV) for prices and availability.  You'll find a VVV in most of the "lager" Dutch cities.

that would be the perfect city for those who want to spend some time in the west side of Holland (close to the sea) and prefer peace. city still rather big, very charming, with a lot of possible activities (shops, monuments, clubs...) and very different from Amsterdam, which is noisy&crowded, full of turists and freely-mannered young persons;)
not far away from the sea - the best way to get - only few minutes by train to Zandvoort
