IJmuiden Travel Guide

IJmuiden is a small city located about 30 min (by boat along the North Sea Channel) west of Amsterdam. Not a whole lot to do in IJmuiden. There is a market that is every Thursday I believe, that is held in the parking lot behind the Hema. You can get anything from fresh bread, fruits, veggies, cheese, candy, loompias (like an egg roll), french fries, and fish to clothing, bath toiletries, and bedding.

recommend for those who likes being on the sea, but don't like boats;) a huge, wide beach ended by a huge pier (~2/3 kilometres into the sea). you can walk there, but nobody takes the responsibility of you so avoid when the weather is bad or is going to be bad - storm can be too dangerous...
