Travel Tips from people who've been to Eastern Netherlands
Every tuesday and saturday there is an open market in the city center, is great to try typical dishes and to learn how people live in this city. Drink Grolsch, is the local beer brand.

Go watch a footballgame in 'De Grolsch Veste' from the local team FC Twente!

First of all, i come from Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia or widely known as Borneo. One may think what am i doing in Enschede?? Well, my dad studied here, in Enschede. Enschede is the home of the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC). My trip here was on official purpose accompanying my dad & other delegates from different parts of the states in Malaysia. Lucky for me & my sister, we were brought along to enjoy ourselves after our graduations. So here is just a brief story of my trip to Enschede. Just a stone´s throw from the German border this is a sleepy littly town with genuine dutch feeling. You will find that it has a nice downtown shopping area which becomes truly buzzing on a Saturday when the farmers market is spread all over the area. Here you can buy anything from clothes pins to flowers, from huge lumps of Holland cheese to soap. Holland cheese, emmm, simply delicious!  Do not under any circumstances miss out on the fabulous fried fish with Pommes Spezial (french fries with ketchup, mayonaise and onions). You can easily go to Enschede by train from Germany (regional trains from Münster, apprx 1hour) or from any dutch town (to Amsterdam apprx 2hours). Enschede is a nice little town, but there is nothing to see here. Town is full of Germans who come across the boarder to buy hash.
