Travel Tips from people who've been to Nijmegen
Go check out the biggest walk event in Nijmegen, known as de 'Vierdaagse'. This event is always in the third week of July and there is next to the walking tracks (30/40/50 km) also a really big free festival, which includes famous dutch bands and drinks every day, during a week! Next to this, Nijmegen is also the oldest city of Holland. Approximately 2000 years old. It's a beautiful little city (200.000 inhabitants) next to the river de Waal, and the border of Germany. Good tip? (0) Oldest Dutch city, founded by the Romans as a military camp. Their historic museum is very interesting.
The city played an important role during WWII because of their bridges over the Rhine river, specially during the Allied advance to Germany. You can see it in the movie "A bridge too far".
