Urk is an old fishing village. It is considered the most traditional place in the Netherlands. Until they closed off the zuiderzee it was an island. Very religous so don't bother going on a Sunday. They also don't speak very good English there and speak a weird highbred of Dutch so watch out if you aren't too good with the language it can be a bit difficult here.

If you are in the netherlands and you see a guy with an ear ring with a boat on it it means he is from Urk and that he is a fisherman...
