People in Auckland
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Once the capital of New Zealand, Auckland is a large city in terms of surface area because everybody still has a dream of their own backyard and house. Hence the distances that must be travelled to find cheap homes and supplies are huge. Very little in the way of public transport except buses and the Britomart, if you don´t have a car it is difficult to get around. The domain, albert park, the war memorial museum, Mt Eden, One tree hill and Rangitoto, are just some of the attractions to see. Auckland is also known as the city of sails not because it hosted the Americas Cup but because one in 34 people had a boat from the 70´s (Auckland had a population of approx. 800 000).

North Shore, North Island, New Zealand
Northshore is not a bad place. It has a lot of white beaches..some people drowned. Thats why West is the best! But anyway, if you are South African or want to know a lot of South Africans, this is the place to go...except for South Africa.

Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Auckland's waterside location has fostered the locals' love affair with the sea, earning this place the nickname "City of Sails". Auckland sprawls over a narrow isthmus between the sparkling waters of the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours. A cloak of rainforest covers the surrounding hills, dozens of dormant volcanic cones dot the landscape and enchanting holiday islands are scattered throughout the vast Hauraki Gulf. Two of the best island getaways are Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island . Auckland's heart beats to a Polynesian rhythm, its people a melting pot of South Pacific and Asian cultures and a strong indigenous Maori heritage. This diversity brings with it an abundance of unique dining and shopping experiences.

Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Auckland is New Zealands largest city with over 1.5million residents. There are some unique things to see but don't stay too long! Best time to travel is summer Nov-Feb. Keep an eye on grabaseat.co.nz for cheap airfares over NZ. Or hire a 'Wiked' camper wiked.co.nz and drive the country. But don't drive in Auckland. Things to do: Bungy jump off Harbour Bridge, Ferry to Rangitoto(the volcano in the harbour), Take a day trip to Waiheke Island 30min ferry from city, If you want "culture" take a trip day/night to Ponsonby and Parnell both a 15 link bus ride or $10 taxi from cbd enjoy the restaurants, bars, cafes and unusual fashion specialist stores. Go to Mission Bay on the weekend and hire a kayak($17taxi). Listen to George FM 96.8 for nightlife info and good tunes ;)

Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Dont listen to the nay sayers, Auckland has an amazing amount of things to offer. Made up of 4 cities and 6 regional districts, Auckland has the most diversification of any NZ city. To the west you have the black sand beaches of the Tasman sea, and Waitakeri ranges which have many excellent day hikes To the east you have the the golden sand beaches of Maraetai, and a little closer to the city, Kohimarama, and Mission bay. There are more excellen day walks avaliable to you in the Hunia ranges, but you will need a car. To the north you have the regional parks, and more golden sand beaches, try a visit to Whangaparoa pennisualr for a great family day out. In teh Waitemata harbour you have plenty of islands to choose from, catch teh Fullers ferry to Rangitoto and walk to the top for spectacular views. or keep going out to Waiheke and visit a laid back Island winery for an amazing lunch. To teh south ... well initially its mostly industrial, but if you go far enough, clarkes beach is a nice area, there is access to the Waikato river, and if you feel like a long trip Raglan is a surfers mecca. And thats just the tip of the iceberg, So those of you saying there is nothing to do in Auckland, open your eyes and look again!

The zoo is a must! there are loads of beautiful parks around the city centre. Late january to mid february is the best time to visit to take full advantage of the awesome outdoor kiwi lifestyle. A visit to Waiheke island from the city port is also to be recommended. The island is home to some great beaches.
