This is a decent day walk which you can do as a student if you have no transportation. It takes about 5 hours to walk from the centre of Dunedin to the top and back, but it's dreadfully boring walking all the way back down North East Valley at the end. I recommend getting a taxi or bus to the bottom, if you have no car!
