Coromandel, North Island, New Zealand
We've been to the Coromandel Penisula about 2 weeks ago now and i liked it a lot. But you really need a decent car to see the best bits. Coromandel town is pretty quaint with a few nice cafe's that do a good breakfeast. Heading further north it gets really rugged and beutiful rough gravel roads with nothing but stunning crimson pohutukawa trees to keep you from going over the cliffedge. Just find the end of the road and enjoy the emptyness, the end of the world feeling.
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Aucklands public transport system is mutch improved on what it used to be. they have freuqent trains leaving from the britomart center at the bottom of Qeen st in downtown area.
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand
If you want to really enjoy the area you will need your own transport. There is so much to see in the Northlands that you can't take it all in without a car.
Coromandel, North Island, New Zealand
Don't rent a car that's not allowed (or insured) to drive on cravel roads - you need it!
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand
when crossing to the other island . take the afternoon ferry, much less busy
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand
Most people travel around the south island in an anticlockwise direction (North from Christchurch). The traffic will be much lighter if you travel south from Christchurch. There is only one road around the south island.
