Planning a Trip to Nigeria

Kano was exciting for me.i stayed off hadeja road....by yankaba ,red bricks and hospital muritala in city.kano indigenes are not too friendly with women.nightlife is better enjoyed in sabon gari.......you can eat local delicacies like chicken gwagwa.weather...when its cold...its cold.when its hot...its hot.i prefer their private hospital to their general hospitals.accomodation can be expensive.things are quite cheap...food is really cheap.i never went out when its 1..prayr time and i had to watch how i dressed.its better to do your shopping in kori market for clothing materials...you get the best deals.i was a sweettooth and suya lover...try halal meat and oasis bakery.be ready to take biks in kano cos the bikes are more than the cars.

You like it or hate it. There is no in between. Good music if you know where to look. When Felerason Kuti was still alive they had the best music in Africa. His son has taken over the business. Good music, but the rebel is gone. Lagos is loud agressive and you need to be streetwise to survife and have a good time. They have an incredible public transport system that no foreigner can understand. It is based on thousands of small enterprices instead of a state run transport system. It works, although it looks like chaos. We used to go restaurant hopping. Every cource an other restaurant. We ate some wonderfull fresh grilled sole fish and even food ice cold beer. The Lagos Hilton Hotel is an experiance, since it is not a real HILTON hotel as we know them. They do however have some very cold beer and some very good hot and spicy suya (meat on scewers) and some real mean goatseye pepper soup ( the dogs down the steet love the goat eye when you throw it over the fence) I could never bring myself to eat the eye. You should try it, even if it is just for the fun. Atleast you have a story to tell your Grandchildren.

The people of Port Harcourt which are the Ikwerre tribe are hard working people who are heavily enshrined in their local customs, especially by their way of engaging in traditional dances and music;you will mostly find them performing the tradition in funerals and traditonal occations like marriages and wrestling festivals. they are very accomodating that's the reason for the peace and conduciveness of the environment within the city.

Beware of the custom officers who are likely to see any chance to rip you off. Especially, they will be picky on anything to get some money out of you.

Extreamly friendly local people, very nice homemade food in the local tavernas,bars and pubs.You can hear Nigerian music almost everywhere. Nice club in the center build underground. Best way to see places is with a local person. Really big market place full of almost everything!You should have a good car to move around as the roads are a bit off and also for the safety on the highway. Aba City Clobal Hotel is quite nice for visiting or even staying in. Halabalaba bar with live music on stage and night club was absolutely the place to be! =)just fell in love with the people!

Dont even go there! not safe in the slightest. you wont see poverty like it again.

Benin City is a place to rough it in Africa. No grand hotels or restaurants. Food is pure Nigerian, or southern Nigerian. Pounded yam, or fufu as they call it in Ghana, rice are the staples.

When travelling any place in Nigeria, it's safer to have a local with you.
