West Norway is what we call "Norway in a nutshell".... We have the mountains, glaciers and the fjords, inland and coastline! The nature is wild and the possibilities when it comes to hiking, skiing, kayaking, biking and diving are great. Because of the mountains/steep hills and deep/long valleys West Norway contains of many small villages and no big cities. You will be amazed were people have decided to have their farms, and in this part of Norway many of the small farms are still in use. West Norway has glaciers (Jostedalsbreen - the biggest glacier on mainland in Europe) and a lot of waterfalls, rivers and lakes (Europes deepest lake; Hornindalsvatnet 514meter at its deepest). The air in West Norway is fresh and the colours og nature are amazing.Worth seeing!

When arriving at Stavanger airport, get your money from an ATM in the airport.. No money exchange counter that I could find, so this is your only option if don't already have kroner.
Also, take the green bus (#9 route) into Stavanger town if you want to save money (29 kroner or roughly $6).  The airport shuttle (Flybussen) runs more frequently and will get you there quicker (20 minutes as opposed to 40 minutes) but it will cost you  about three times as much (85 kroner or $15). On Sundays, the #9 bus doesn't run, so the airport shuttle is your only option.

If you've been here, you have either been to, or are heading to "trollstigen" and Geiranger....easily the most beautiful place on the planet! Bit scary though to be driving along the edge of a fjord and peeking over the side to see a 1000 meter sheer drop. I was hangin' onto the "jesus bars" the whole way up...and down.

It is really nice to go up Mount Ulriken and hike around. Beautiful scenery and views. Actually the whole of Bergen is very pleasant to walk around.
