About West Norway Planning a Trip to West Norway
Bergen, West Norway, Norway Bergen is one of the most beautiful Cities in Norway even though it is the most rainy city as well. Very famous is the fishmarket which is located in the heart of the City and the FLoibahn. The Fishmarket is opened daily from 9 - 18 hrs and you can find everything even Whale meat.
In some of the Hotels you can find Wireless Internet for free and in the near Cruise Terminal you can find all kind of Cruise Ships everyday. You can Change Money at the Money Exchange office or at the Bank but be careful: Banks are closed on Sundays.
Norway in General is quite expensive, you better visit Bergen in August and September because then you pay just half of the prices for nearly everything. Good tip? (0) Bergen, West Norway, Norway It is really nice to go up Mount Ulriken and hike around. Beautiful scenery and views.
Actually the whole of Bergen is very pleasant to walk around. Good tip? (+1) Andalsnes, West Norway, Norway If you've been here, you have either been to, or are heading to "trollstigen" and Geiranger....easily the most beautiful place on the planet! Bit scary though to be driving along the edge of a fjord and peeking over the side to see a 1000 meter sheer drop. I was hangin' onto the "jesus bars" the whole way up...and down. Good tip? (+1) Stavanger, West Norway, Norway When arriving at Stavanger airport, get your money from an ATM in the airport.. No money exchange counter that I could find, so this is your only option if don't already have kroner. Also, take the green bus (#9 route) into Stavanger town if you want to save money (29 kroner or roughly $6). The airport shuttle (Flybussen) runs more frequently and will get you there quicker (20 minutes as opposed to 40 minutes) but it will cost you about three times as much (85 kroner or $15). On Sundays, the #9 bus doesn't run, so the airport shuttle is your only option. Good tip? (+1) Bergen, West Norway, Norway Take a peg to block smell of fish, and a camera for great picks on way and in fiords Good tip? (0) Flam, West Norway, Norway Consider splitting your Norway in a Nutshell trip into two days. Take the bus from Flam to nearby Aurland. It's much less touristy, and you can rent a cabin right on the water. The ferry will pick you up from there! Good tip? (0) |
