Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The best city in the world.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
use the public transport!!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The city of shopping, the famous cuckoo clock that plays Waltzing Matilda and Mt Dandenong which makes for a nice day trip. Don't drive unless you are very brave. The trams and traffic have an uneasy set of rules. The Melbourne Tennis Center is home to the Australian Open and of course this is the home of Aussie Rules. Lots of great Greek and Italian restaurants and a thriving metropolis of cultures.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Trams are the best way to get around Melbourne
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
If you're interested in film, make sure you get along to the australian film museum in Federation Square...there are great interactive pods where you can watch Australian short films for as long as you like, free of charge.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Must see the M.C.G, ride on a tram, eat at Lygon St Carlton. Try the cakes on Ackland St, and take in a Sunday session at the Espy in St.Kilda
Opua, North Island, New Zealand
The car ferry will save a long drive.
Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand
Dont just stop at the car park to see the seals, walk the whole peninsular. Depending on the tide, walk along the beach and back over the headland, or the other way round. Or be different, park at the southern end of the walk, its much quieter.

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Hmmm where to begin? Sydney is a fabulous city, not only because it's on the coast and has the Opera House as a trademark but simply because it is still at a stage where we can call it a metropolitan city but isn't yet so terribly congested. And that is truly the beauty of the city, with lots of green and recreational areas. But now to some insider tips:- Do the Harbour Bridge Climb (it's breathtaking)-Visit the Rocks and eat out in Darling Harbour (the atmosphere is great and relaxed): Restaurant recommendations: Angus Steak House, Jordan's seafood restaurant- Take the monorail to get around town: Oh at the QVB exit there's an enormous bookshop (if you're looking for a book, they most probably will have it): Kinokunya Bookshop- Stop at Star City, the QVB (old shopping arcade)- Visit Tarronga Zoo - Head to Bondi Beach for a weekend on the beach!
Lobethal, South Australia, Australia
Nice area, has a fantastic display of Christmas lights around the town during December, although it is probably best not to drive unless absolutely necessary (tour buses are available)
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Hire a car and drive on the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne, or use the Grampian Mountains as a base to explore a new section of the Road each day.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
What can I say? The classic 'four seasons in one day' city. Talk to the ladies in the information booth in the mall, they know everything, can give you information about the buses/trams which go around the major sights in the city. ps. don't swim in the Yarra.
Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia
lots of aberiganee stay away from da ones dsat smell they are da evil 1ns da other are freindly
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Jump on the city circular tram, no 55. It's free and takes you around the melbourne CBD past some of the main sites.
Noumea, New Caledonia
Pick up a little french before you go and practice speaking it. The people of New Caledonia speak very fast compared to those in France and there is still places where english isn't spoken (particularly the best restaurants away from the tourism!) While the main land (noumea) has great shops, restaurants and cafes, you must visit the outer islands like the Ile de pines! It is so beautiful and not to be missed!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Melbourne is the most European and in my eyes most charming city in Australia so don't miss it!!!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
great city for shopping!!!
Ballarat, Victoria, Australia
when in Ballarat just go and see 'Sovereign Hill'! It's an authentic gold diggers camp with loads of interresting stuff to see and do!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
great place to wine and dine! always bring a coat when travelling around October and November - temps change from cool to cold in a heartbeat
Williamstown, Victoria, Australia
Lovely bay side village atmosphere with lots of eclectic shops and cafes. good park at waters edge and ferry rides . both with great views of Melbourne and surrounds. a well kept secret.

A beautiful quiet old fihing village. A delight.
Mount Beauty, Victoria, Australia
a beautiful town in the mountains. Small and unspoiled by tourists.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Weather forecasts here are very accurate. So make sure to check out the forecast for the day/week before you venture out.
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Sydney... I find Sydney a great and exciting city with so much to offer. The harbour is one of my favourite places to hang out on the water or catch a ferry over to Manly. But a good way to see the harbour is the catch the city ferry that does a 2 hour tour of the harbour and little inlets and some interesting facts. A nice city to walk around ( the Botanical gardens and Opera house ) and always feel safe.
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Try going around the city by bike. You can go with a group bike tour (complete with a rented bike, helmet and tour guide) or you can rent your own bike. Its safe, it affords you to see much more of the city, its environment friendly and its good for your health.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Melbourne is a really cool city, very artsy.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
I love the city, nice people, good nightlife, St.-Kilda beach
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
for all the city's ive travelled to Melbourne is my favourite one it have all you can wish for nice cheap food at the Victoria market (also open at night) good clubs at st kilda where all the night life is for the touristsfor some awesome underground bars (jazz) and that sort of stuff ask around a bit, you'll find them just outside the centreall the hostels are ok at best i have been in 4 of them and i didn't found a good one
Gilgandra, New South Wales, Australia
Gilgandra is publicised as the 'Home of the Coo-ees'. This is a reference to the occasion in 1915 when 35 local men decided to set off from Gilgandra on the first recruiting march of World War I. Having received no support from the Army the men walked 500 km to Sydney in six weeks, proclaiming their arrival in a town with the bushman's cry for help, 'coo-ee!'. They received much publicity along the way and arrived in Sydney, 263 strong. The event sparked seven other such marches from rural centres. Gilgandra's annual celebrations include the Coo-ee Festival which is held over the October long week end.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Melbourne is Australia's second largest city. Attractively located on the the banks of the Yarra River and the shores of Port Phillip, Melbourne is characterised by a sophistication and a certain solidity of purpose. The essence of the city was forged in the 1850s when it was the largest, and most affluent, settlement in Australia as a result of its proximity to the vast goldfields of Ballarat, Bendigo and literally dozens of other smaller mining settlements in Victoria. Although Melbourne was to experience depressions in both the 1890s and 1930s it was basically a prosperous and successful city. Its vitality and dynamism of the state continued after World War II when, as a result of Australia's active attempt to attract migrants from Europe, large numbers of non-English speaking settlers (particularly from Italy and Greece) arrived. It is often claimed (not entirely accurately) that Melbourne is the second-largest Greek city in the world (it has recently been changed to third largest city) and the largest Italian city outside Italy. Certainly Lygon Street, famed for its international cuisine, is a symbol of the cultural diversity of the city. Exploring Melbourne
It is quite impossible to list everything that is available to the visitor arriving in Melbourne. However, in the larger context of the city, here is a fairly comprehensive list of the attractions all within walking distance of Flinders Street Station which is the psychological centre of the city. Opposite is Federation Square. The heart of the city. Below is an extensive tourist information centre.
Williamstown, Victoria, Australia
Very pretty little town near Melbourne, great for seafood!! There's a nice beach as well :-)
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
you will find treasures at victoria and st.kilda markets!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Just the most beautiful city in the world!!!
Rarotonga, Cook Islands
Rarotonga would have to be my favourite destination in the south pacific. It is always beautiful weather and has the most magnificent beaches and snorkelling. Remember to take along coral shoes as this will be of use. Best restaurant in Rarotonga would be Sails on Muri side, awesome food, excellent location, cocktails to die for and quite resonably priced especially for what you recieve. The Rarotongans are the most friendliest people you are in their beautiful country so respect it. Easiest way to get round Raro is on scooters however if there is 3 or more of you it will work out cheaper to get a small lil pop top car. beware you do need a rarotonga drivers license to drive there you get them in Avarua at the police station and are around $10 nzd however this can take several hours to do so make sure you dont have anything planned that day as you can't rush Island Time.
Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia
A good stop on route to Canberra from Sydney or vice versa. The big sheep is one of the tacky Aussie landmarks in the line of the big banana and pineapple, etc... Definitly a fun photo op if nothing else.
Coolangatta, Queensland, Australia
Love Coolangatta! Nice people with a fun party!
Franz Josef Glacier, South Island, New Zealand
Go to the Blue Ice Cafe, drink lots of whatever you drink eat the great food then hop in a chopper do the overland Glacier tour then get out go to the info centre get tickets for a horse ride and do the sunset beach tour. Than stay at the YHA or any of the other great venues. Rafting is also a hit you can fly into the alps get dropped off and do anything from 1-3 day tours. Avoid the new climbing wall and talk to the locals because they know where to go, make sure you meet a guy called Scumbag aka Greg Brown and you will be the luckiest person in the world. Also the best things are 30km before hand in HARI HARI because thats where the Wildside backpackers is get the hut out the back and stay with Dan and Kath for as long as you want, suggested minimum is a month.
Papeete, French Polynesia
Moorea is one os the mos beautiful Island of the "iles de la société"...

This is a laid back surfy town with some good restaurants. There is a nice beach and the market on sundays is really good for cheap but chic jewellery finds!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Melbourne is a nice city with a good atmosphere. Unfortunately the winter weather is a bit too similar to scotland for my liking but ah well. The cokatoos are a bit annoying!

Cook, South Australia, Australia
One of the stops on the train journey across Australia. Only a shop and a toilet there, apart from abandoned school, hospital and jail buildings. In 2003 the population was 2 and the day I was there those 2 people were gone on holidays and another 2 people were standing in for them!

Wellington, North Island, New Zealand
Make sure your luggage is light, as in one on board bag if just visiting or one backpack, briefcase, overnight bag if staying over a weekend if flying nationwide. International travellers would well benefit by carrying amongst their onboard luggage a light, waterproof parka/jacket, a compact hat or a warm cardigan. Wellington, even on it's sunniest days can still be a wee bit nippy or cool.
Kaitaia, North Island, New Zealand
Always travel with someone who knows the area very well as local knowledge is ALWAYS the best. Safety in numbers, yes. Always remain with your group if on a guided tour, wandering off and doing your own thing may upset the natives and so as the old saying goes, IF IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO. Light, waterproof jacket, sunhat, or compact umbrella wouldnt go astray and a pair of good walking shoes and some 'gummies' wouldnt go amiss either. Also, boil water if in a hotel or camping ground or buy bottled water.
Tauranga, North Island, New Zealand
Take a good amount of money either in the way of an EFTPOS card, credit card or debit card. There is soooo much to do in and around Tauranga. The food is great and the nightlife isnt bad either. Try Valentines Restaurant on the wharf. It's really good value.
Stewart Island, South Island, New Zealand
All Kiwis should experience Stewart Island at least once in their lifetime so to all international and nation wide travellers - go see for yourself! The seafood is some of the purest most succulent in the whole of Aotearoa, the paua are the creamiest and most delicious when cooked on a piping hot char-brick at one of the waterfront restaurants there. Take your camera and try absolutely everything on offer! It's a fantastic, mysterious, beautiful place! And we have it right here ... on our back doorstep!

Good nightlife every night of the week since its a tourist populated town. All the bars are in walking distance of each other, its pretty compact but very lively!

The zoo is a must! there are loads of beautiful parks around the city centre. Late january to mid february is the best time to visit to take full advantage of the awesome outdoor kiwi lifestyle. A visit to Waiheke island from the city port is also to be recommended. The island is home to some great beaches.
Busselton, Western Australia, Australia

Rarotonga is heaven on earth. Turquiose blue lagoons, white sandy beaches, a relaxed lifestyle, with grass skirts and flowers in hair..who wouldnt be happy here! Muri lagoon is stunning and you can hire a little paddle boat to take you to the little motus. Vara's villas on the hillside are spectacular and have everything you need, such as washing machine, cooker, etc. Once at Rarotonga, you will find it hard to leave.
Tongatapu Island, Tongatapu Region, Tonga
Tonga, lets most other South Pacific Islands down. The beaches are mostly rocky with rubbish strewn everywhere. Prices for lodgings etc are OTT, offering very poor room standards ie: cleanliness. We stayed at Ou'tuaka Beach Resort and it was the worst place we have ever stayed. Rude staff, dirty rooms, and cruelty to animals. DO NOT stay here!
Rainbow Beach, Queensland, Australia
This beach would be beautiful if it wasnt for the piles of tourists traipsing up and down it or speeding their 4 wheelers along it.
Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia
touisty, tacky and trashy.
Muri, Cook Islands
Muri is beautiful, boasting stunning turquiose blue lagoons and white sandy beaches. Totally what day dreams are made of.
Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu Region, Tonga
Not a place i'd recommend with its OTT prices for dirty rooms. Lets the south pacific dream down.
Kingscliff, New South Wales, Australia
Kingscliff caravan park offers some comfy cabins facing out onto a long quiet stretch of beach.
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
A fab place for a city break. Catch a show, go out for a meal at one of the many great restuarants.
Yamba, New South Wales, Australia
A small town in Oz, theres not much to do here, we only ended up here because we had to find a mechanic quick for our broken down camper!

Wellington, North Island, New Zealand
Watch out for the earth quakes here -- not because they're frightening, but because it's frequent and a cool experience!
Napier, North Island, New Zealand
Napier is the springboard for the Hawkes Bay wine region. You'll need to decide which areas to visit before you head off as there are so many cellar doors you'll run out of time for any favourites if you try to do them all. Gimblett Gravels is a personal favourite and is close to Napier township...

Hi guys Paihia is pretty straight forward. Stick to the main road along the coast and you are sweet. A variety of services are available including the ferry over to russel and adventure boating on the Mac Attack whick i personally recommend. Your cheapest accomadation available is on Kings road in the form of 2 particular hostles, "The mouse trap" and "Pepper Tree Lodge". There is a nice bar opposite these also called Pepper tree. However I prefer the bar at the docks called 32 degrees from memory. Safe traveling people, Keep it fun tho ;-)
Hokitika, South Island, New Zealand
Just outside Hokitika just next to Lake Mahinapua is a little place affectionately known as the Pu Pub. Its a brilliant place with lots of history. Anyone staying here will have a great time and hopefully get to meet Les!
Belconnen, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
I can't think of any reason why anyone would "travel" to Belconnen but then I grew up in Canberra and perhaps I take it for granted. I guess Lake Ginninderra is nice and I occasionally trip out there for a walk around the lake. The Australian Institute of Sport which is located out that way is quite interesting. There is the Belconnen Mall which if you like shopping malls is not too bad as it has the basics like Kmart and Myer. It always annoyed me that it didn't have The Body Shop though as I am rather partial to The Body Shop. I can't think of anything else to add about Belconnen.
Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia
Tamworth is a really nice little town 4 hours outside of Sydney.. it gets really hot here in the summer, but the pubs here is great, so you can drown your thirst there.. the jillaroo school(cowgirl/cowboy school) is worth a try:) learn to throw a lasso, to ride a horse, mustring cattle and all the other things a real cowboy should know...

Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand
Definitely worth a visit to the cathedral downtown, before taking the cable cars up to the hill and look over the beautiful landscape New Zealand has to offer.
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia
Fraser Island is one of the most beautiful places ive been... its the worlds biggest sand island and its lot to experience here... go to champagne pools for a refreshing bubble bath, to the fresh water lake McKenzie lake in the middle of the island, or camping in the bush... its a lot of dingos, huge iguanas and a big tiger shark family here, so watch out;)
Masterton, North Island, New Zealand
Just a little tip if you get really bad car sickness, take the train over the hills to masterton instead of driving. The hills are really bad.
