We will be staying in the city for the first few days but will rent a car and explore the country after that. We're open to any suggestions! Ask a travel question about Panama
Travel Tips from people who've been to Panama
Hold on to your bags and money! Good tip? (+1) In Panama there is one thing most travelers know about; the canal. But in Panama city be sure to take advantage of the international foods and shpping in the hotel section of the city. Due to the shipping companies with offices there many resturants have oepened to feed the palattes of the international workers in Panama City. And many merchants have relized the market for goods from their home countries. Many bargins can be found as well as unusual art pieces either hard to find in the U.S. or expensive here. For U.S. travelleres you can us the American dollar while shopping there. Good tip? (0) You can (should?) experience a canal transit: A partial canal transit tour operates three times a month, every Saturdays, except for the day when it operates as a full transit. We took the full transit tour and enjoyed it very much. After all the partial tour tourists leave (after 4 hours), there is a peacefull ride over the lake and a more impressive transit downwards to Colon (total 8 hours). Good tip? (0)
