Travel Tips from people who've been to Asuncion
Not worth while going their on it's one, as a part of a south american journey for 2 days ok. Bit sleepy old town, in the summertime gets extremely hot (around 40 plus during the daytime) avoid plane travels from uruguay or brasil, travel overland from montevideo, and also leave overland towards argentina (it will save you around 5-600 usd on plane ticks, and the bus journey is ok,- according to south american standards) there is a small town close to the uruguayan border, much more nightlife, discos whatsoever (u can't miss it no other town before or after till you hit asuncion.) When arriving seek up accomodation from lonely planet, and avoid the cheepest ratholes, 20 usd will buy you a nice room anyways, w realiable aircon. don't arrive on a sunday, - infact don't be in the city on a Sunday at all, nothing is open, it's like a cemeterey. If you are up for nature take a river ride towards the great plain, - but if it comes to rivers in SA, I would recommend to do it elswhere.
