Urubamba isn't a popular stop for travelers making their way through Peru. The few that do usually go to see the Salinas. Otherwise travelers visiting the area tend to stick to more popular destinations such as Cusco and Machupicchu. Know something about Urubamba? Travel Tips from people who've been to Urubamba

Before Machu Picchu, make sure to leave a day for a tour of the entire Sacred Valley of the Incas, including this town. All you need is a private taxi guide and one to one half a day. Shouldn't cost more than $50-70 to go from Uruabamba to Cusco or vice versa in a private taxi if you stop to visit all the cities along the way. Have plenty of cash, because that is all everyone takes, even restaurants and hotels!

Always bring your own toilet paper and save up 1 sole coins to use the public restrooms. Don't be surprised when the toilets have no seats.
