We stayed at One MGM resort on White Beach in Boracay. The people are very friendly and helpful. Puka beach was my favorite spot to relax in the water followed by White beach. There are many wonderful restaurants..

The Grotto by the beach is a popular sight in Boracay, as it is the only grotto that you might see in the world. Shallow waters surround the magnificent structure, where the icon of the Virgin Mary is also placed.

A must see Boracay attraction! Great for snorkeling and boating! To get there you can take a trike for 50 PHP but I recommend renting a catamaran off White Sands Beach for 500 PHP per hour which will take you around..

I had an unfavorable incident in one of the restaurants in Boracay that offers seafood buffet. I had a terrible stomach ache so I had to stay inside the hotel till I have gotten better. The hotel staff warned us that some of the restaurants might be reheating the leftovers so most of food that are served might not be fresh. Suprisingly, stomach ache is quite a common incident to travelers who had tried seafood buffets. My suggestion?Better go to D'Talipapa and do the marketing yourself. There are small restaurants around the market that offers to cook whatever you have bought. This can ensure that what you are eating is fresh and not just last night's leftovers.

Boracay, Visayas Islands, Philippines
Boracay is one of the most popular destinations for tourists. Last time I've been there 2 years ago. At this time my impression was still ok. There are a lot of activites you can do like ride the banana boat, jet skiing, para sailing, snorkling (hiring your own boat) and diving of course. Boracay has a lot to offer on a small Island. However my impression at this time was great so far - except the constructions going on. Once it was a quiet place and now too many hotels and tourists have found their way there. The beach is still very nice for sure and also the restaurants there have great food to offer. For example Winnie's Steakhouse is just great just to name one. Getting there from Caticlan by boat it takes about 20min to get to the island. SEAIR still offers the fastest flights to Caticlan. Boracay is still worth the trip. You'll find great sunsets there and just happy people. Boracay is still top and enjoyable if the place is not too crowded.

Regardless of how much more commercialized this beach is, you can't beat the sand and the beauty of the island itself. Most of the accomodations are on White Beach. If you stay at Station 1, the hotels are pricier but the crowds are little more sparse. You can walk down to Station 2 (where most of the bars are located) and check out the restaurants and nightlife. Station 3 is where you'll find your bargain hotels (beware of swindlers) and cheap shopping. The nightlife on the island is lively during their summer and peak season -- a mix of foreigners, "balikbayans" and rich kids from Manila. They have happy hour right on the beach all the way until 7 or 8pm. We hit up Cocomanga's at Station 1 (it's an open beachfront bar) that had buy 1 get 1 free drinks. Try the weng-weng if you want a kicker, and if I recall they also had some challenge to take 15 shots or something like that. I don't mind the low season, actually. Less crowded and less pretentious! If you want a change of scenery, take a boat ride to the other side of the island or neighboring beaches for something a little more secluded, go scuba diving, see the bat caves, etc. For some truly cheap, down-home eats (and lots of interaction with the locals), go to the wet market in town. They sell seafood but they'll cook it for you and you can eat it right in their house (and watch Filipino television... everyone has one!) If you want to just chill on the beach, you'll get a lot of offers for mani/pedis (not very sanitary) and massages. You can get a pretty good massage for cheap, right on the beach!
