Poland Suggested TripsTree days in Poland doesn't seems to be enough to get know this country even a bit, but it's perfect for feeling the air and catch frist impression. My proposition will be ubfortunatelly subjective and will concentrate at South of Poland, which I know the best. Day 1 The best place to start the trip, to feel an atmosphere and to spend great time is Krakow(Cracov)- some informations about city you can find here: http://www.krakow.pl/ One day will be enough to visit Rynek which has typical structure from 13th century and where you can find Mariacki Church with interesting legend and beautiful entrance. You can also see Sukiennice - old trade centre and Wawel castle. It also amazing to visit Collegium Maius where is situated museum of JagielloĊski University and it's orginal medieval building which was one of the first builded for university. If you are art lovers you can visit also one of many museums and art galleries which offer interesting exhibitions. If anyone would like to see something much more modern you can see Nowa Huta, part of the city which was fully constructed by comunists in Poland. Of course Krakow is also place full of little caffee, restarunts, pubs, clubs, what ever would you need to enterine yourself. Day 2 I suggest to visit Auschwitz -Birkenau - the biggest Nazi concentration camp at polish teritory, where you can see painfull truth about world history. Day 3 To see Polish mountains and Mountains People, their hospitality and traditions I can recomended Zakopane and places neer by this city. In ther you can taste regional food like oscypek, catch beautiful views form peaks and feel amaizing atmosphere This are my trips suggestions. They show only a little part of what Poland is and how interesting can be, but I have a hope that such short trip could encourage to stay longer in chosen places or to visit whole country Last edited May 11, 09 1:06 PM. Travel Tips for Suggested Trips in PolandKrakow, Malopolska Region, Poland For cheap places to stay there are usually people around the train station offering rooms in private houses.
You have to go to Wawel (pronounced Vavel) Castle. Some say this is the heart of Poland and it is the past seat of Polish Kings. There is also a Smok (Dragon) that lives in the tunnel underneath the castle.
Two day trips you have to make are
1. Oswiencim (Aushwitz). You can take a train from the center of Krakow, to within a couple of hundred meters of the front gates. You cannot miss this testament to the horrors of the Nazis and genocide.
2. Wielizcka salt mines. This is another trip possible by the efficient Polish railway system. These salt mines have been in service for hundreds of years and are now a Unesco world heritage site. As the miners took the salt out they carved statues and even a cathedral into the caves. Really amazing.
Don't forget to listen to the trumpter in the main square and to have a great time. Krakow is fantastic! Good tip? (+2) Wroclaw, Silesia Region, Poland There is a great movie festival in summer!! Good tip? (+2) Bialystok, Mazovia & Podlasie Region, Poland One of the things you have to see in Bialystok is Branicki Palace (called Versaille of the North) with the garden (designed after Versaille gardens) and the park around - wheter it's cold or warm you will always meet people there ;) Good tip? (+1) Kazimierz Dolny, Malopolska Region, Poland If u interested in history of art u HAVE to visit that city! It is example of local version of renesanse. In past it was muliticultural city and still u can find examples of this. Good tip? (+1) Bielsko-Biala, Silesia Region, Poland You can climb Szyndzielnia mountain, eat polish traditional food(also local food), visit castle, walk through old part of the city, buy ticket to Jazz Festival and find some of Vienna's spirit.
