Poznan is located in Western Poland and is a thriving economic center. The most notable sight in Poznan is their old town square (Stary Rynek), surrounded by rainbow colored 15th century merchant homes and a multicolored town hall. As well, many head to Malta Lake for recreation and relaxation. Check out the rest of our Poznan travel guide for more info or check out other Poland attractions.
Travel Tips from people who've been to Poznan
So, when you arrive, you must see so called "koziolki". Those are 2 mechanical gouts fighting to each other on the tower (right above the clock) of the city council. Make sure tat you arrive at noon sharply, since they are fighting just once a day and without seeing it, as locals may say, you haven't been to Poznan. Though I was pretty disapointed - expected more action :)
As for the locals - they are very friendly and helpful, but you must speak.. Polish. Well - you may try English (or German, since it is just 300km from Berlin) with younger generation.
In Poznan there is also a Malta lake. Last centrury they just digged out a lake in the city. Pretty interesting idea. But it is quite nice to spend an evening, for here you can rent bicycle or ski in the middle of the summer. No kidding!
Anyways - it is a nice place to spend time. Poznan ir very active and quite a big city, where all the time something is going on. Good tip? (0) Poznan - the city vibrant with life, the center of business and culture. Want to try typical Polish cuisine? Try Bażanciarnia located in the middle of the Old Town (Stray Rynek 94) www.bazanciarnia.pl
My tipp: duck placed on a plate of wild marjoram with potato dumplings and cabbage! And leave some space for a dessert: homemade cheese cake covered with chocolate. Delicious! Good tip? (0) A picturesque city in the west of Poland. This is a shoppers paradise with several large shopping centers and a picturesque old town too. There is lots to see and do here with cinemas a plenty, theatres, Malta lakes and show centre, museums, come beautiful churches, markets and of course a very healthy night life. The food and drink here in bars, restaurants and night clubs is very cheap for most tourists. Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Poznan
