Funchal is the capital of Madeira, a small but beautiful harbour city, with your typical fresh fish restaurants. From the docks you can see the city built up against the steep hills of the island, and at night it becomes a wonderful lightshow. A nice place to have a drink is the Dofasol, a bar with live music (piano and singing by the owner).
