A collection of gardens and palaces built by Peter the Great, Peterhof is the “Russian Versailles” on the Gulf of Finland.  The Grand Cascade is one of the most glorious fountains in the world, especially when its golden statues glitter in the sunlight. Be sure to bring enough cash for the whole day when you board the boat in St Petersburg, as the attendant at the entrance gate will NOT accept credit cards and the nearest ATM is more than one mile from the dock.
