Lake Baikal is an absolutely gorgeous area. The water is amazingly clear. We did a homestay with a local family and had an amazing time. We had just spent 4 days in Mongolia eating nothing but mutton, so the incredible breakfast spread we had laid out for us was a moment of joy. We were basically force fed some of the most amazing home cooked food you'll ever have. We loved every second of it. It was such an incredible experience. I'd HIGHLY recommend it!

Take the "Round Baikal Railway" also called "The precious buckle in the Steel Belt" from Kultuk to Litsvyanka. 'Bribe' the train driver to allow you to stand in front and experience driving into the 38 tunnels. Any travel agent in Irkutsk can assist with bookings.

Visit the Lake Baikal ! "The blue eye of Siberia" is the deepest and the largest freshwater lake in the world. During the last years, the Poutine's government built a lot of polluting industries all around the lake. Congratulations Mr President.
