Okay, I have to say that out of all the vacations I've taken in my life, this year's trip to St. Lucia was tops. The island is absolutely gorgeous with its lush, tropical mountain peaks, beautiful beaches and clear waters. We stayed at the Sandals Grande Resort at the far end of the island, which I would highly recommend for those traveling without children. I would also recommend doing the zipline tour in the jungle. And, you definitely don't want to miss taking a boat ride around the island, which will give you a chance to take in the real beauty of the island.

Yes, it is a touristy stretch with nothing more than resorts; but there's nothing wrong with some self-pampering and relaxing. Do however get OUT of this region and explore the amazing rain forest; hike or bike around and find yourself some fresh coconuts to break open and eat.People in Gros Islet are super friendly and helpful; the only annoyance can be the occasional drunk youngster (tourist) walking around.
