Saint Vincent and the Grenadines consist of the larger island of Saint Vincent and many smaller islands that are collectively known as the Grenadines. Saint Vincent itself often serves as a stepping-stone to the magical Grenadines.  Although it has enough to make for a worthwhile destination in its own right. There are a couple of Napoleonic-era forts to see as well as the Saint Vincent Botanical Gardens.  For the more adventurous – a hike to the crater of the active La Soufriere volcano.

The Grenadines have some stunning islands included amongst themselves and can be fairly pricey to access. The privately owned and exclusive island of Mustique plays host to many of the rich and famous. For a price you can arrange your own escape to a villa on the island. Another exclusive option is Petit Saint Vincent, which is considered to be one of the best escape destinations. The five islets of the Tobago Cays are protected by the large Horseshoe Reef and have a reputation as one of the best snorkelling and diving spots in the world. They have been turned into a national Marine Park and combine outstanding marine life with picturesque sand and water. Bequia is slightly more developed and has an excellent combination of amenities and natural beauty.

If you get to Port Elizabeth and you decide you want to visit the Turtle Sanctuary, be aware that it is a bit little. And by that I mean, tiny. The taxi journey costs about $80EC return (seriously overpriced), and buses don't really run all the way out there. And it's just not worth it. There's about a dozen small tanks with a few turtles in. Pants. Not worth the entry fee of anither $10EC. Also, if someone tries to tell you it's a walking distance of about half an hour, they're lying. It's a solid hour at least. My tip would be to do what we did on the way back - hitchhike! Cheaper and more interesting.

A small island in the Grenadines.  You fly here to visit Palm Island exclusive resort hotel. You can take a trip around the island with the locals who are keen to show you the natural beauty.  This is not a holiday destination but is a little gem. In addition to flying in on 6 seater aircraft from other islands you can sail here and whilst here visit nearby Tobago Kays (see other report)
