Kidira Travel Guide

If you want to cross the border from Senegal to Mali at Kidira to reach Kayes in Mali, and take the train from there, always ensure you buy water for you on the Senegal side. The infrastructure in Mali is much worse, there are regular power breakdowns, and we simply found no water on the Malian side of the border when waiting for the bush taxi to get full. If you travel in the night a torch is very helpful, as it cen be completely dark and no electricity. Finding the border station is a challenge itself. The road from Kidira to Kayes is extremely rough, be prepared for a bumpy ride.... and you will be completely covered by dust at the end.
