Senegal What to Expect

Be prepared for the crowds! And the little pests (ok, children) asking for money all the time!! "Cadeaux! Cadeaux!" The only really good advise: don't try the local fish dish... It smells of rotten fish!! But the chicken... Gorgeous sauce!!! Never felt endangered in all of Senegal, except for the kids! Get pens and sweets to give to locals in exchange for taking pictures!

Le Sénégal restera également un pays gravé à tout jamais dans ma mémoire car d'abord c'était le cadeau de mes 30 ans et puis c'est un pays certe très pauvre mais où justement les gens se contentent de peu et sont tellement heureux, sans aucun stress malgré toute la misère.
En plus je pense que je suis allée dans le meilleur hôtel de Sali, c'est à dire "le Royam Hôtel". En effet on te sert à table, tu manges de nouveaux poissons tous les jours et si tu es fan franchement tu te régales.
Et toujours pareil les autochtones sont tellement chaleureux, même s'ils n'ont rien, ils sont prêt à tout pour toi....

stay away, there is nothing to see or do. only a boat trip to see some birds. people are a bit distant unless they want to sell you something

Drink lot of water you previously bought in a store! Go to the "Pink Lake". It is very beautiful, and the lake is really pink!!

"chez loutcha" in dakar was worth a daily visit and would even be worth a return to dakar: gigantesque servings, extraordinary taste, megalomaniac, fresh vegetables, steaming soups, mysterious and addictive spicy sauce... no reason to dine somewhere else in senegal's capital.

mediterranean feel, squats arts, an ancient fortress and a heavy load of history. only went there for a day but would have loved to stay a week..

Touba is a sacred town for Mourides'brotherhood, the bayfals
If you go there and meet people, they will just welcome and feed you for free
they also makes a sacred coffee : wonderfull taste and burning your soul all the night ;)

Mon voyage de rétho, trop fort, dépaysant, on a vraiment une autre vision de la vie une fois là-bas! On y a atteri,c'était juste pour passer la nuit, pour rejoindre Rufisk le lendemain. On a dormi dans une sorte de stade, où il y avait des cafards dans les douches! Ne pas oublier de faire les vaccins nécessaires! L'eau n'est pas potable pour nous européens! Ne vous y laissez pas prendre, même si nos amis sénégalais eux en boivent sans avoir pris de précaution---mettre une cachet spécial qui se dilue dans l'eau (déso je ne me souviens plus du nom!)

good surf spot between the small island and the bay of Yoff. there are many sea urchins, so shoes are a good idea. Once you got one in your feet, swim to the island and walk ophill asking for the 'doctor': have fun! it will hurt like hell and once back in Dakar you should check your last tetanus shot...

visiter sali (à 1h environ de Dakar) : il y a beaucoup de construction pour les touriste (le mieux serait palm bitch )

Shittiest fishing village in the bolong. The Japanese built a very impressive fish processing center. There is a very large, very old tree that is something of a tourist attraction. The village chief is an extremely obnoxious Sossi man. There are lots and lots of flies, but the fishing business seems to be going well. This is a jumping-off point to other islands in the bolong, so you will see lots of overweight European tourists and the inevitable crowds of beggars. A good place to go from here would be the National Park and Bakadaji.
