Beograd, Belgrade District, Serbia
Hi friends and all of the travelers, first of all the best sleeping place in whole the capital - Monster Hostel!!! If You're enough polite the couch you will get for 10 euro, and people there are absolutely amazing!!! Not enough that you can cook at your own, then you can prepare some national meals with owners also show them up some of your food :-) and one of the most important thing - internet acces, so not search any other apartment just go straight to Visegradska! Now what to see - for the real travelers i definitely recomend Zemun, this is an old part of Beograd, quite far from city center and not known, but enchanting, with fabulous view at Danube, this is like little town in big metropoly, feeling like in forgotten place, where on the cementary devils sais goodbye :-) yes, hrams and crkvas so churches and mosques at all are still so alive and nice to visited and watched from outside and inside as well! Kalemegdan, thats another attractive place to spend a little time inside its walls, close to that place i got sweet and lovely presents for my mum - tablecloth and serviettes made by hands!!! Terrific thing to see is walking down the Kneza Milosa and passing by the old building of Ministery of Defence bombarded by NATO in the end of XX. The better idea of using mobile there if you dont have Sim Lock is get serbian phone card because calling there is pretty cheap but not roaming! And very important thing, you cant exchange serbian dinars anywhere besides Serbia, so the best idea is to come to country with Euro and exchange it over there The last thing what You must try - Baklavas!!! Find a confectionery and try one by one, not stay with the one but taste different kinds with nuts, carmel...mmm.. delicious and of course burek, but this you can find some bit far away at the north of Serbia. Take care of yourself and enjoy your trips and dont forget to take ISIC or Euro26 card because you can get some off :-)

Belgrade District Culture
Novi Sad, Belgrade District, Serbia
Novi Sad is the capital of the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina, and the administrative centre of the South Bačka District.
Novi Sad is Serbia's second-largest city, after Belgrade.

*Since it was founded in 1694, Novi Sad became the centre of Serbian culture and earned its nickname Serbian Athens.

*The name Novi Sad means "New Planting" (noun) in Serbian.

*One of the main streets in its city centre is named after Modena in Italy; and likewise Modena has named a park in its town centre Parco di Piazza d'Armi Novi Sad.

*Since 2000, Novi Sad is home to the EXIT festival, the biggest music summer festival in Serbia and the region (performed Bob Sinclair, Moloko, Massive Attack ,Cypress Hill, Fatboy Slim, White Stripes, The Cardigans, Billy Idol, Pet Shop Boys, David Guetta, Beastie Boys, Eric Prydz, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Robert Plant...)

BEANS is among the favorite local dishes that come in many forms, from soup to chowder, vegetarian and "army style". Beans are cooked with chopped onions, bay leaf and addition of meats, diced bacon or smoked spareribs, with roux in the end. Beans are usually accompanied with sausage, pork chops or similar kinds of meat. Salad is an indispensable accompaniment to beans. We recommend cabbage or roast peppers in oil with garlic. You will appreciate beer or spritzer with it.

The theatre is one of the most significant buildings of the 19th century and it decorates the Square - Trg Republike - where is the most popular meeting point of Belgrade. It is built on the base of renaissance architecture plan.

Knez Mihajlova Street links Terazije with Belgrade’s most popular promenade, Kalemegdan Park. Laid out in the first town plan for Belgrade, prepared in 1867 by Emilijan Josimovic, it is the oldest and most completely preserved area of old Belgrade. Foreign travellers once compared Knez Mihajlova Street to the most famous trading streets of the largest European cities. The most wealthy and influential leaders of the city’s commercial and political life built their family homes here. Knez Mihajlova was the first street in Belgrade to be named by the administration (1872) and is one of the few streets whose original name has never been changed. Considered the city’s main street from the outset, it remains to this day the most lively trading, business culture and restaurant area.

Either from a ship, or from the other side of the river, Kalemegdan is always lovely! Anytime of the year you will find lots of boats on both rivers, from the small, old wooden boats to speed boats, yachts and cruise ships! Also, there is a boat tour organizing sightseeing of the town! Don't miss to see the city from this perspective as well!

Gamzigrad, Belgrade District, Serbia
In the vicinity of Gamzigrad lie the ruins of a huge Roman complex called Felix Romuliana, one of the most important late Roman sites in Europe. Early explorers believed the ancient ruins to have been a Roman military camp, because of their size and numerous towers. Systematic archaeological excavations conducted since 1953 revealed that the site was, in fact, b an Imperial palace. It was conceived and built by one of the Tetrarchs, Emperor Galerius, the adopted son and son-in-law of the great Emperor Diocletian. Galerius started construction in 289 (after a victory over the Persians that brought him admiration and glory) to mark the place of his birth. The name Felix Romuliana was given in memory of his mother Romula, who was also a priestess of a pagan cult. The complex of temples and palaces served three main purposes - a place of worship of his mother’s divine personality, a monument to his deeds as emperor, and a luxurious villa where Galerius retired after his abdication. Romuliana survived until it was plundered by the Huns in the mid 5th century. Later the site became a humble settlement of farmers and craftsmen, finally to be abandoned at the beginning of the 7th century with the arrival of the Slavs.

Archaeological excavation within the fortress have unearthed the remains of a palace compound with exceptionally fine mosaics, baths and impressive gates. Several valuable hoards of Roman gold coins have been unearthed at the site, which continues to yield important Roman treasures and artifacts.

Among the most important finds from the site are portraits of Roman emperors made from the Egyptian purple stone called porphyry and coins that help to accurately date the complex.

During the 31st Session of the Unesco World Heritage Committee in Christchurch, New Zealand from the 23rd of June to the second of July, The World Heritage Committee decided to place Gamzigrad-Romuliana, Palace of Galerius on the World Heritage List.

Felix Romuliana is a popular tourist stop on the Roman Emperors' trail which links the birthplaces of over 17 Roman Emperors born on the territory of modern Serbia.

Subotica is a city and municipality in northern Serbia, in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Today it is Serbia's fifth largest city.

*The name Subotica derives from the Serbian and Croatian word for "Saturday" or "Sabbath" and first appeared in 1653. The Serbian and Croatian word for "Saturday" is subota (субота), thus the name Subotica means "a little Saturday"
