Seychelles

The Seychelles are a cluster of 155 islands and 40 islets in the Indian ocean some 1500 Km off the Africa’s east coast northeast of Madagascar.  Its gorgeous white sand beaches dotted with palm trees and giant limestone formations rising up out of the sand are considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world.  The current Seychellois people are a mix of French, English, African and Asian descendants, the vast majority of which live on the archipelago’s 3 main islands – Mahe Island, Praslin and La Digue.  With 6 national marine parks, several bird sanctuaries, the world’s largest raised coral atoll, and over 40% of its land area protected as national parks, the Seychelles are a true nature lover’s tropical paradise.  The Vallée de Mai on Praslin Island is so pristine and beautiful that it has been some have claimed it to be the original site of the Garden of Eden.  Add the delicious local food combining French, African and Asian influences, and those traveling to the islands will never want to leave.

La Digue is great, but I think there is one beach on Praslin where You can easily say: This is paradise I was looking for! Fish, turtles, octopus, mantas just under the surfuce. To see that You need is only abc.

Mahe, Seychelles
Victoria is a great little town, everything is within walking distance. Keep in mind that the majority of goods are imported, so it might be hard to find something as simple as milk or a razor. There is a few souviner..

Best beach ever! Lonely, if not a tourist boat happens to arrive at the same time, huge waves, white sand and clear water.

If you ever happen to land on Praslin - take the ferryboat to the island La Digue, rent a bike and go for a ride around the island - no traffic there at all, no cars on the island..

Beautiful place with sparkling ocean, calm, lots of tropical forest, little roads, scarce danger. Sad it's getting touristic.

La Digue, Seychelles
Rent a bike in the little village and pedal 20 minutes south to Anse Source D'Argent beach for a totally idyllic experience! Beautiful granite boulders, swaying palm trees and fine sand beaches, all fringed by a beautiful coral atoll. Amazing!

Take US or UK Pounds, don't take Seychelles Rupee, I changed 20 UKP, had a job to get rid of it. The Hotel would not take it as part payment!
