Oudtshoorn Travel Guide

A must see for tourists travelling via the Garden route on the Western Cape of Southern Africa. You need at least half a day to tour through the caves. Your next stop in Oudshoorn should be an ostrich farm.

outshoorn is a great little town in the Karoo. it is predominantly one of the large towns in the area and has a large farming community. there are plenty of tourist attraction in the area. these include visiting nature reserves and game parks. or visiting an ostrich farm or the big high light, heading to the cango caves, which are situated just north of outshoorn in the swartberg mountains. if you are a little more adventurous, there is a great camping site and De Hoek resort where there are also chalets available. it is right against the swartberg mountains, which has plenty of hiking, and there is some really good rock climbing in the area aswell. i recommend taking the R62 to get to and from outshoorn as is a beautiful drive, and often less busy than the major routes.

In Oudtshoorn you should visit the Cangoo Caves. Beautiful limestone formations and a great adventure tour through the caves (speleology).
