North-West Province Travel Guide

Serutube does not have places to stay, but nearby Sun City is the Vegas of South Africa. By FAR the best place to stay is The Palace. It looks like something out of Raiders of the Lost Ark: an ancient stone palace in the middle of the African veldt. It is a spectacular resort with a world-class restaurant developed by Chef Colavita (yes, of the olive oil family). The service is all white glove and flawless throughout the resort. DO take the warning on the golf cards seriously: DO NOT try to recover lost balls in the water hazards; you could become a crocodile snack. There are morning and afternoon game drives and you are bound to see lions. After time on the veldt, you might want to join the surfers in the wave pool. Yum! Of course, if you like gambling, the casino is a short walk across the grounds from the hotel.

Sun City, an oasis in the Southafrican stepp. Nestled between big hills or small mountains, whatever..., it boasts 5 hotels if i remember well and a big Casino, a swimming pool with waves, a big lake and an internationally known golf course (Tiger Woods). If you have some money to spend, stay at least one night at the Palace of the Lost City (rate from about 400€ or 600$/night per room). It's just amazing, almost surreal, when you arrive in front of the hotel. Best restaurant: Butcher's, which you'll also find in Johannesburg and Capetown. You can drive there by car (about 2 hours from Jo'burg or 1.5h from Pretoria). Also served by air. 

Sun City is the Las Vegas of South Africa, it caters mainly to gamblers, but there are some nice hotels (most of them quite expensive), an entertainment centre with a movie theatre, a watersports centre with Jetskis, Paragliding and bumperboats as well as a water park with a wave pool and a few water slides.   Stay for a few days with children, preferably at the Cabanas hotel (close to the wter sports centre and a nice play park) and visit the water park. Avoid the cultural village; there is nothing genuine about it and you will anyway mostly see large groups of tourists.
